The mines in Fields of Mistria are filled with valuable loot, ore, and gemstones. To stock up on these important resources, players will need to battle monsters and level up skills and gear.
Fields of Mistria‘s mining system is similar to Stardew Valley. Using a pickaxe to break rocks and ore nodes, players will find ladders that appear randomly under rocks on each cave level. However, the best materials are deep inside the mines, where monsters become very difficult to fight.
In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know about mining in Fields of Mistria and offer some tips for getting good materials quickly.

How to Unlock the Mines in Fields of Mistria

To unlock the mines in Fields of Mistrai, players must reach Stone Town Rank.
During Spring of year one, players will receive a letter from Eiland titled “Reopening the Mines”. Eiland asks the player to meet with him and Errol at the Museum.
After meeting the pair, players will learn that the mines were severely damaged during the earthquake. Errol is not keen to have anyone down in the mines and requests that players help the town reach the Stone Town Rank before talking about Eiland’s mission any further.
Once at Stone Rank, players can speak with Eiland again, and Errol will agree to open the mines.
How to Reach Stone Town Rank
To unlock the Stone Town Rank, players must earn Renown by completing NPC requests and story quests. Stone Town Rank is the second rank players will unlock while repairing Mistria, and can be accessed quickly by filling the many requests left on the community board next to the General Store.

How to Break the Water Seal in the Mines of Fields of Mistria

On level 20 of the mines, players will find a tablet with an ancient language written on it. Further progression into the mine is blocked until the seal on this tablet is broken. Take a rubbing of the tablet to Eiland so he can help translate its message.
Eiland explains the language is Witchspeak, however, he is unable to translate the message. After speaking with Eiland, head to Juniper and mention the tablet. She can read the Witchspeak and is willing to help.
To break the seal, you will need to offer four objects to the tablet. All four items are found in the mines.
- Ruby
- Stone Loach
- Upper Mines Mushroom
- Lantern Moth
Once the seal is broken, players can access the Tide Caverns portion of the mine.
How to get the Stone Loach in Fields of Mistria
The Stone Loach is a type of fish that can only be found when fishing in water on levels 1-19 of the mines. It isn’t hard to catch and is valued at 35T.
How to Break the Earth Seal in Fields of Mistria

Once you reach Level 40 of the mines, you’ll encounter another seal that must be broken before you can progress. This time, you’ll take the rubbing directly to Juniper per her request. With the help of Celine’s Codex Mistria, you will uncover the required items to break the seal. Like the first seal, all of these items are found in the mines.
- Ancherfish
- Coral Mantis
- Jade Dulse
- Sapphire
These items are found in the Tide Caverns area in the mines (Levels 21-40). Jade Dulse and Sapphire are both random spawns that can be harvested from the mine floor or ore with blue spots, respectively. Ancherfish and the Coral Mantis must be caught using the fishing rod or net.
How to Break the Fire Seal in Fields of Mistria

Once you reach Level 60 of the mines, you’ll find the Fire Seal. The Priestess will tell you to break the seal with far more clarity than in previous levels. Take the Fire Seal Rubbing directly to Juniper, where she’ll tell you the items needed to break the seal:
- Faceted Rock Gem
- Emerald
- Rockroot
- Sealing Scroll
How to Find the Faceted Rock Gem Artifact
The first three items can be found in the Deep Earth levels of 41-59. The Faceted Rock Gem is an artifact that needs to be dug up from mounds in the dirt, and both the Emerald and the Rockroot spawn randomly as resources.
The Sealing Scroll is where the story takes a turn. Juniper lets you know that this item is a bit more rare and is harder to come by, and you can choose to include either Balor or Eiland. This will trigger the quest “Procuring the Sealing Scroll.” While Balor or Eiland tracks down a Sealing Scroll, this gives you plenty of time to hunt down the rest of the items found in the mines.
How to Get the Sealing Scroll in Fields of Mistria
You’ll receive a letter from either Balor or Eiland one day after triggering the quest “Procuring the Sealing Scroll.” The source on the other end of the deal is requiring a hefty payment for the scroll:
- 10 Silver Ingot
- 10 Ruby
- 10 Sapphire
- 10 Emerald
Put the payment inside the drop box in order to receive the Sealing Scroll.
