Like pretty much everything else these days, gaming can be an expensive hobby. Game prices are on the rise, and many of us are working with tight budgets. That’s where game deals and sales come in, giving us a chance to snag some great games at lower-than-usual prices. I love a good sale, and Steam almost always has some kind of event going on. From now until September 21st at 1 PM ET, the Party-Based RPG fest is offering up some impressive discounts on JRPGs and turn-based games.
While we love cozy games here at Bonus Action, many of us are also big-time RPG enthusiasts, myself included. That means we’ve played our fair share of solid turn-based games. Many of our team’s favorites, and some serious hits from recent years, are on sale during this latest Steam event. To help you decide what to add to your cart, here are my top recommendations for the best deals to grab during the Party-Based RPG sale. I’m using a combination of total discount amount, personal experience, and overall game ratings to deliver some top-quality recommendations for your Steam library.
Stardust: Wish of Witch

Price: $19.99 / $24.99 (20% off)
Steam Deck: Playable
It probably comes as little surprise that a game with “witch” in the title caught my eye on Steam. Stardust: Wish of Witch has been on my wishlist for a while, ever since it was released back in May. Now that it’s on sale, I just might finally bite the bullet and add this one to my Steam library. This single-player, turn-based RPG features an adorable pixel art style that takes me right back to my Gaia Online days. Players form a party from a variety of unique characters, then progress through a story where stars reveal each person’s fate.
With a Very Positive rating on Steam, this one seems well worth checking out if you enjoy a turn-based strategy RPG with a magical twist. From now until September 21st, it’s 20% off on Steam.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger

Price: $39.89 / $69.99 (43% off)
Steam Deck: Verified
The Digimon Story series returned with a bang when Time Stranger launched last year. I was one of many Digimon fans who eagerly dove into the game, and I was not disappointed. Yes, these games are pretty grindy, but they’re also a ton of fun. Like any major JRPG, though, Digimon Story: Time Stranger is pretty pricey at $70 full price. During the Turn-Based RPG sale on Steam, it’s matching its lowest-ever price on the platform with a whopping 43% off. That brings it down to just about $40. For Digimon fans eager to return to the digital world, that’s not a bad deal.
Time Stranger boasts a Very Positive rating on Steam, and it’s also Steam Deck verified. So you can take your Digimon journey on the go for a lot less now through September 21st.
Sea of Stars

Price: $17.49 / $34.99 (50% off)
Steam Deck: Verified
Released in 2023, Sea of Stars is a love letter to classic turn-based RPGs. With stunning pixel art and a compelling original story, this indie game is a must-play for fans of Final Fantasy and JRPGs. You can enjoy the game solo or with local co-op for up to 3 players. Sabotage Studios released the last major update for the game earlier this year, adding more cinematics and rebalanced combat to make the game its best version yet. So, now is a great time to check it out if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of experiencing the story of the Children of the Solstice.
Sea of Stars boasts a Very Positive review average on Steam, with quite a few indie game award accolades under its belt as well. Now through September 21st, it’s 50% off on Steam.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter

Price: $29.99 / $59.99 (50% off)
Steam Deck: Verified
Whether you’re a fan of the original Trails series or a newcomer, this enhanced remake of the 2004 game that started it all is well worth playing. I had the pleasure of checking out the Steam version back when it released in late 2025, and I can confirm it’s a delight if you love a good classic JRPG. The anime art style and combination of turn-based and real-time combat make this easy to sink into. Plus, the next installment releases on September 16th, so you can carry right on into the next game if you enjoy the experience.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter has secured the elusive Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam. You can get it for 50% off now through the end of the Turn-Based RPG sale.
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

Price: $9.99 / $49.99 (80% off)
Steam Deck: Playable
I learned to play Pathfinder before I learned to play Dungeons & Dragons, so it’s no surprise I was stoked to see that Owlcat Games translated the world of Golarian into CRPG form. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous has plenty in common with Baldur’s Gate 3, though it predates Larian’s hit by a few years. It admittedly goes on sale fairly often, being an older game. But on the off chance that you haven’t checked it out yet, I’m here to tell you that this delightful turn-based RPG is yet again 80% off on Steam for the Turn-Based RPG sale event.
With Mostly Positive reviews on Steam, I’m clearly not the only one who enjoys this Owlcat spin on the world of Pathfinder. For just $10, it’s pretty much a must-buy, especially if you’re looking for another immersive TTRPG-inspired adventure after Baldur’s Gate 3.
These deals may be our favorites, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg. You can check out the full list of games featured in the Turn-Based RPG event on Steam. Other notable deals include 30% off Baldur’s Gate 3 and 20% off 2025 Game of the Year Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Still here? Good.
