Few cozy games have been quite as long-awaited as Witchbrook. The game has been in development for 10 years. Following a pretty lengthy silence, it re-emerged at a Nintendo Direct last year, only to get delayed. Now, we don’t have a good indication of when Witchbrook will arrive. As 2026 winds down, many fear we will go another year without the magical life sim. However, the team at Chucklefish has continued to offer dev logs and updates to prove that the game is still in the works. With the September Nintendo Direct just a day away, the team dropped another romanceable character reveal. That begs the question… are we about to get the release date news we’ve been waiting for?
When it was delayed, Witchbrook was ostensibly pushed to “next year.” In other words… 2026. But we haven’t gotten a true release date, or even a release window. However, the recent ramp-up in updates from Chucklefish has sparked new hope that we might hear something soon. My guess is that it’s either going to show up in the Nintendo Direct tomorrow or be delayed to 2027. In the meantime, though, we now have our first look at a sixth confirmed romance option for the witchy life sim. And these characters just keep getting better.
New Witchbrook Reveal Brings Us Up to 6 Confirmed NPCs, and We Can’t Wait to Meet Them
In the latest social media post from the official Witchbrook account, players were treated to another character intro. Like the prior reveals, the details are short and sweet. But they do include some character art and basic details to give us a sense of this latest romance option for the magical life sim. Today’s reveal introduced us to Evadne Gladwin. This purple-haired character is described as “a walking daydream” who is easily distracted, with their head in the clouds. Like every character design, it’s a truly stunning reveal that has us all too ready to finally meet these NPCs and more when Witchbrook finally arrives.
With Evadne’s reveal, we’re up to 6 confirmed characters for the life sim. We don’t yet know how many romance options and NPCs the game will include, but I think it’s safe to say there will be more to come. Chucklefish has sporadically released new character profiles over the last year, since it re-emerged at the 2025 Nintendo Direct. Each follows a similar structure, with a brief description and a look at their in-game character portrait. There’s also a glimpse at Evadne’s in-game animation this time, giving us some insight into how we’ll interact with them in the game.
The timing of this particular reveal feels noteworthy. After all, Witchbrook first resurfaced at a Nintendo Direct. So, many fans expect that release date details will most likely be revealed by Nintendo as well. While showing off Evadne could be coincidental timing, it’s interesting that the reveal comes just a day ahead of the September Nintendo Direct. Does this mean we’re about to finally get a confirmed release date? Or will we be waiting even longer to finally attend Witchbrook College? One way or another, we should find out soon enough. For now, we can admire the latest character reveal and daydream about vanishing into the witchy life sim of our dreams.
Still here? Good.
