Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, the next installment in the beloved farming-meets-RPG series is sprouting onto the scene soon.
And it’s not just about planting turnips or wooing villagers (although, let’s be honest, that’s half the fun) – this time, we’re diving into a Japanese-inspired world with village rebuilding and enhanced combat to boot.
Rune Factory is the action-packed cousin of Harvest Moon (or Story of Seasons, for you rebranded fans). In this cozy game, farming meets monster-slaying, with a sprinkle of magical shenanigans.
The series took a long nap after the developer Neverland Co. closed shop in 2013, but it woke up swinging with Rune Factory 5 in 2021 (Japan) and 2022 (globally). Now, the stakes are higher with Guardians of Azuma, and it’s clear the franchise is done playing it safe.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Release Date & Platforms
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma comes out on May 30, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

In this new adventure, players become “Earth Dancers,” tasked with battling something called the Blight (sounds ominous) while restoring Azuma to its former glory. Expect upgraded combat, lush aesthetics, and all the heartwarming life-sim elements you know and love.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Editions
Guardians of Azuma comes in two flavors:

If you’re ready to balance farming, flirting, and fighting with a side of cultural flair, mark your calendar.
Guardians of Azuma promises to be the next evolution of life-sim RPGs – and yes, it might even outshine your favorite turnip harvest.
While you wait for this farming sim to come out, maybe it’s time to jump into Fields of Mistria or learn more about My Time at Evershine’s romance candidates.
