Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is now available to wishlist on Steam, bringing back dungeon crawling and shopkeeping chaos.
After the announcement of Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault on December 5, 2024, fans (yes, including us, BA) of the original game couldn’t wait for more chaos and shopkeeping fun.
The first Moonlighter, released in 2018, became an instant hit due to its addictively unique blend of dungeon crawling and shopkeeping.
Players balanced their time fighting monsters in randomly generated dungeons, collecting loot, and then setting up shop to sell their treasures and make some cash.
Fast forward to 2025, and the sequel is up for wishlist on Steam.
Wishlist Moonlighter 2 if balancing retail therapy and dungeon rage sounds fun
The new Moonlighter 2 will take things to the next level with updated 3D graphics and an isometric view, replacing the 2D pixel art of the first game.
You’ll still play as Will, the hero merchant, but now you’ll venture through the new township of Tresna, exploring more intricate dungeons with even more challenging puzzles.
But you didn’t think we’d just be dungeon crawling and not managing a shop, did you?
Digital Sun, the game’s developer, has been keeping fans on their toes by sharing footage of Moonlighter 2 on social media.
In these clips, we see Will doing his usual thing – slaying baddies in dark dungeons, looking entirely stressed out, then flipping a switch to calmly polish his shop during the day.
It’s this sharp contrast between chaotic monster-slaying and tranquil shopkeeping that made the first game so captivating, and it’s clear the sequel will stick with this addictive formula.
While there’s no specific release date yet, Moonlighter 2 is slated for 2025. When it finally hits, you can bet we’ll be right there, waiting for the sign to flip from CLOSED to OPEN, ready to barge in and get lost in the madness.
In the meantime, we’ll rely on other equally awesome indie games to keep us busy, like Bloomtown and Infinity Nikki.
