Not long ago, DeNA shared plans to make some changes to Rental Decks and Deck Missions in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Now, they’ve revealed more details about what those changes will look like, along with some additional new features and adjustments. In a lengthy and transparent social media post, the developers behind the mobile card game confirmed that the arrival of the C Series will coincide with overhauls to core game systems. This includes changes to card collecting, decks, and trading/sharing features. But the biggest news of all is that Pokémon TCG Pocket is finally slowing down the pace for new pack releases.
Since the early days of Pokémon TCG Pocket, the pace of new pack releases has been a core complaint. With new boosters dropping once a month, it’s hard to keep up – even if you’re a premium subscriber like I am. Now, DeNA is finally making changes to remove one of the most frustrating parts of the collection experience. Beginning with the next series, packs will release every 6 weeks instead of every 4. To help keep things interesting with a longer wait between packs, DeNA is “expanding events and missions surrounding the collecting and battling experience.” Here’s what we know.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Is Finally Slowing Down the Pace for New Packs & Adding More to Do
The next series of Pokémon TCG Pocket packs will debut at the end of this month. And from the sound of it, the game is going to feel a lot different when it does. During the C Series, packs will release every 6 weeks, not every 4 weeks. This should help us all get caught up a bit, because goodness knows I’m still struggling to finish up the B Series. It’s not the universal pack points we all want, but it’s still a pretty positive move in the right direction.
Along with the change in pace, several core gameplay features are being reworked. The goal here seems to be making sure there’s plenty to do in between new pack releases, and so far, I’m cautiously optimistic about the changes.
More Missions, New Rewards

This includes new Mission Rewards to obtain special immersive cards, a new special pack with partner Pokémon to collect, and new event missions to collect 1-star promo cards. The TL; DR here seems to be that we’re getting more missions overall, and more rewards to go with them. For those among us who love a checklist (ahem, me), that’s good news.
Deck & Battle Overhaul
Battling will also get some changes, as previously announced. This includes the new Community Deck feature, where players can share buildable deck outlines. Rental Decks are also being reworked to make them easier to use. Finally, new battle events will arrive, featuring special limited rulesets that restrict the cards you can use. If implemented well, this could provide some relief from the stale meta.
Trading & Sharing Get a QoL Adjustment
DeNA will also be updating trading and sharing to make them a bit easier to navigate. This includes making it easier to filter for your trade partner’s unregistered cards and more easily see their wishlist when sharing. This could be huge, because it’s been tricky to make sure you’re giving your friends the cards they want because the wishlist isn’t very well integrated into these features at the moment.
This is just the beginning of what’s to come, as DeNA ends their note confirming that they “also plan to add a variety of features and ways to play alongside each booster pack’s release in the new series.” Personally, I’m liking the overall sound of these changes, and I look forward to seeing how they play out in the game.
We don’t yet have an exact date for when the C Series will arrive, or specific details on what that first pack will be. However, the Deluxe Pack MEGA is set to expire in 12 days, so it’s likely we’ll see the next series begin around that time.
