When it comes to JRPGs like Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, sub-quests are just as important as the main storyline. Those who enjoy the completionist grind are in luck, as this consuming title has plenty of extra adventures to offer.

This is the complete guide for all sub-quests in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (SMT V: Vengeance). Sub-quests are listed under the area they are unlocked in and have a step-by-step guide for how to complete them.

All Da’at Minato Sub Quests

Below you can find a guide for every subquest in the Minato Ward region of Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance.

1. A Preta Predicament

The Preta leader and his group are starving. It asks the protagonist to find the group who was responsible for finding food and bring them back to him. But make sure they come back with food.

A Preta looking for food by a tree can be found near the Mita Leyline Fount. Talk to it to find out another Preta went to follow the goddess. This will give a marker on the map for the Preta’s location.

You will have to fight the Abscess and complete a boss fight from the main quest “Lay of the Land” to reach the location marked on the map.

The Preta are located in a small alcove just off the trail and to the right. You will find them praying to Apsaras, the figure floating in the middle. Talk to the bowing Preta. It will give you Sake and Dango Medley to take back to the Preta leader.

Going further into the alcove will trigger the side quest “The Spirit of Love”

Bring the items to the Preta leader. The Preta will get greedy and attack. Fight them to complete the quest.

Rewards: Haunt Talisman; 100 EXP

2. The Spirit of Love

This can only be unlocked after completing the side quest “A Preta Predicament”.

Talk to Apsaras. You will learn that it is providing a safe place for weaker demons. Apsaras asks you to get rid of Leanan Sidhe who is taking advantage of these weaker demons and tells you to find Leanan Sidhe in Shiba Park.

Leanan Sidhe can be found just south of the Tokyo Tower Leyline Fount, far west of the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount. You will have the option to talk to her or to complete Apsaras’ request. Chose to complete Apsaras’ request. This will launch you into a fight with Leanan Sidhe.

Return to Apsaras to finish the subquest.

Rewards: 2 Health Incense; Apsaras joins you; 700 EXP

3. The Water Nymph

Through the “The Spirit of Love” sub-quest you will find Leanan Sidhe who is Southwest of the Tokyo tower Leyline Fount under a broken down building behind some rocks. You will be offered a chance to talk to her before engaging in combat. This will finish the previous sub-quest. Talking to her unlocks “The Water Nymph.”

When talking to Leanan Sidhe, she will ask you to confront Apsaras. Return to Apsaras and choose the option “Support the other side” to fight them.

Apsaras is weak against Fire skills while the Agathions are weak to Ice Skills.

Return to Leanan Sidhe to end the quest.

Rewards: 2 Stamina Incense; Leanan Sidhe joins you; 700 EXP

4. No Stone Unturned

Look for Neko Shogun in Hamamatsucho. He’s looking for 5 Life Stones, which you can easily get from Gustave in Cadaver’s Hollow.

5. Bully Breaker

Find the Agathion located on the roadway/bridge south of the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount to unlock the sub-quest “Bully Breaker.”

The Agathion requests you to eliminate 3 flying Daemons for it. They will be weak to Zio and Hama attacks.

There are a lot of Daemons flying around and having any spawn in fights will count towards the quest. However, if you want to get them out of the way ASAP, go to the cave East of the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount.

After you’ve defeated 3 of them, report back to the Agathion to end the quest.

Rewards: Agathion Essence; 200 EXP

6. Pollution Panic

Find the Mandrake West of the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount on the pathway headed towards Tokyo Tower. Talk to it to accept the “Pollution Panic” sub-quest.

The Mandrake will ask you to defeat 5 Azumi. They are weak against Zio attacks. Azumi can be found near bodies of water. There are a lot roaming around the river Southwest of the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount and South of the Tokyo Tower Leyline Fount.

Report back to the Mandrake after eliminating 5 of them to end the quest.

Rewards: Yoma Talisman; 500 EXP

7. The Cursed Mermaids

South of the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount, on the other side of the collapsed bridge/roadway, there is a Waterfall. Find the mermaid near the waterfall and talk to it to unlock the “The Cursed Mermaids” sub-quest.

From there head towards Tokyo Tower. If you have not done so, you will need to defeat the Hydra boss fight before proceeding. At the tower, go West then South, sticking to the right, until you find a body of water.

At the water, there are the mermaids and Pazuzu. You will need to fight Pazuzu.

Return to the mermaid by the waterfall after defeating Pazuzu to end the quest.

Rewards: 3 Grimoire; 800 EXP

8. The Demon of the Spring

You will unlock this quest after completing “The Cursed Mermaid” sub-quest. Talk to the same mermaid by the waterfall.

After speaking with the mermaid, go to the Kamiyacho Leyline Fount. To the East is a pathway that will lead up a winding path. Go past the Onarimon Leyling Fount until you hit a dead end where you will find Anahita. Talk to her and say “yes” to her questions to challenge her to a fight to lift the curse.

After defeating Anahita, Megami Anahita will be available for fusion. Report back to the mermaid to complete the quest.

Rewards: Femme Talisman; 1000 EXP

9. To Cure a Curse

The “To Cure a Curse” sub-quest can be unlocked by talking to the Andras next to the Onarimon Leyline Fount. The Andras will ask you to collect 5 Bicorn Horns.

The Bicorns can be found South of the Kamiyacho Leyline Fount and North of the Tokyo Tower. Each Bicorn only gives you 1 horn. You will need to defeat 5 Bicorns to collect 5 of their horns. They are weak against Electric Skills.

Once all 5 horns are collected, report back to the Andras. You can repeat this quest as many times as you want for more rewards.

1st Time Rewards: Fallen Talisman; 700 EXP

Repeat Rewards: 2 Spirit Drain Gems

10. The Gold Dragon’s Arrival

To unlock the “The Gold Dragon’s Arrival” sub-quest, head south of the Onarimon Leyline Fount, past the two Aitvaras, and up a steep sand dune to find Huang Long. Talk to Huang Long. They will ask you to find and defeate each of the Four Gods.

Xuanwu		North the Kamiyacho Leyline Fount. Xuanwu will be under the roadway/bridge.	Level 23, weak against Fire Skills, use Agi and Rakunda to hit weakness and lower defense
Baihu		Far Southwest of the Nagatacho Leyline Fount in the bottom left corner of the area.	Level 43, weak against Force Skills, have demons resistant to Electric Skills, and have Force Skills
Zhuque		From Tokyo Tower, there are two paths leading South. Take the most Western path south, hugging the left side. At the fork, continue left and past the buildings to the dead end.	Level 43, weak against Ice Skills and Charm, have demons with Fire resistance
Qing Long		From the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount, go as fast East as possible to the building ruins. Qing Long will be in the Northern part of the area.	Level 45, weak against Electric Skills, have demons with Ice resistance

Once all four are defeated, report back to Huang Long. This will unlock the “The Benevolent One” subquest.

Rewards: Dragon Talisman, 30000 EXP

11. The Benevolent One

After completing the “The Gold Dragon’s Arrival” subquest, you will have the option to immediately accept “The Benevolent One.” Accepting the quest triggers a boss fight against Huang Long.

Huang Long will use “Call Allies” when it’s down to 50% HP. This will allow him to start summoning the previously defeated 4 gods. Prioritize attacking Huang Long. Use Dark Skills and Physical attacks to bring down Huang Long’s health quickly.

Huang Long will be unlocked for fusion after the fight.

Rewards: 80000 Maca; 110000 EXP

12. The Ultimate Omelette

To unlock “The Ultimate Omelette” subquest, find Aitvaras on the roadway/bridge North of the Kamiyacho Leyline Fount. Aitvaras will request for you to steal an egg from Jatayu in the mountains.

Go to the Northwest end of the area to find a narrow path up the Mountain where Jatayu is flying around. You can fight or avoid Jatayu. It is possible to escape from Jatayu if caught by using a Smoke Ball.

At the top of the Mountain at the Northern point will be a sparkling item. That is Jatayu’s egg. Pick it up and quickly make your way back to Aitavaras.

Rewards: Drake Talisman; 600 EXP

13. Talisman Hunt

Find Shiki-Ouji near the Southeast entrance of the Nagatacho area. Talk to it to unlock the “Talisman Hunt” sub-quest. Shiki-Ouji is looking for 3 of his missing Talismans and wants you to find them. The talisman locations are the following.

Returning the Talismans is not the end of the sub-quest. Shiki-Ouji will attack you after you return them.

Shiki-Ouji: Level 21, weak against Fire and Force Skills, make sure to equip Dark and Light resistances.

Defeat Shiki-Ouji to complete the sub-quest.

Rewards: Brute Talisman; 1200 EXP

14. Movin’ on Up

From the Nagatasho Leyline Fount head West up the mountain and into a cave. There is an Oni in the cave with the “Movin’ on Up” sub-quest.

The Oni is looking for people to help. Just outside his cave are four demons. Talk to them to see if they need help. All of them will tell you no. Reporting the news to Oni will anger him. He will run out of the cave. Follow him to start the fight.

After the fight, the demons around the cave will thank you.

Rewards: 1 Raptor Talisman; Phys Dampener; 900 EXP

15. Keeper of the West

Find Koumokuten on top of a building southwest of the Kamiyacho Leyline Fount. To get there, you will need to climb up a hill coming in from the North. This sub-quest will only be available after completing the “The Ancient Guardian” sub-quest.

Talk to Koumokuten. It will challenge you to a fight. Defeat Koumokuten to complete the quest.

Rewards: 1 Large Glory Crystal; Koumokuen Essence; 70000 EXP

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance – Canon of Vengeance Specific Subquests

All Da’at Minato Vengeance Sub Quests

1. Brawny Ambitions

Your navigator demon will find a Magatsu Rail in Hamamatsucho on top of one of the buildings. Use it to find a hidden area where a Hare of Inaba is located. It will ask you to find Zhu Tun She back to them so it can learn some of Zhu Tun She’s abilities.

If you have a Preta and a Peallaidh demon on hand, you can fuse the two to make a Zhu Tun She. You can also fuse a Peallaidh and a Gremlin. Return to the Hare of Inaba.

Rewards: Unwrite Order Periapt; 350 EXP

2. She Who Rules the Night

Find Tzitzimitl to the east of the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount. Tzitzimitl will ask you to find their children they call their young stars. You will need to find four of them before the next full moon to complete the subquest.

There are a total of 10 of her young stars in the area just in front of her. They look like glowing light purple spots on the ground and are hard to miss. Sprint to each one to grab them as fast as you can. If you bring her more than just the required four children, you will receive more rewards.

• 4 Young Stars: 1 Life Stone Chain & 1 Soma Drop
• 7 Young Stars: 3 Life Stone Chains & 1 Soma Drop
• 10 Young Stars: 3 Life Stone Chains & 1 Soma Drop

If you bring all 10, you will receive all tier rewards for a total of 7 Life Stone Chains and 3 Soma Drops.

3. Knocking on Death’s Door

Find the Magatsu Rail using the navigator demon to the left of Tzitzimitl to get to the top of a building where Nyami Nyami is located. They will ask you to defeat Dormarth who is near the underpass. The location will be marked on your map.

Once you’ve beaten her, report back to Nyami Nyami.

Reward: Treacherous Chaos Periapt; 600 EXP

4. Home Sweet Home

In front of the Tokyo Diet Building amongst some big rocks is a family of Halphas. Talk to them to unlock the “Home Sweet Home” sub-quest.

The Halphas family is looking for a shady and cool place to take refuge from the sun. There is a cave up the mountain and to the west of the Leyline (see cave from Movin’ on Up sub-quest). If the “Movin’ on Up” quest has not been completed, you will be able to talk to the Oni without starting a fight.

Return to the family once you’ve found the cave and after talking to the Oni.

Rewards: Unwrit Chaos Periapt; 650 EXP

Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance – All Time Sensitive Subquests

These are quests that can’t be saved for later in Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance. If you progress the story before completing it, these quests will no longer be available.

Prince of Her Dreams

The “Prince of Her Dreams” sub-quest unlocks when you return to school. Miyazu will explain how she is often sick but some nights she dreams about a man who sails on a boat. The day after, she will feel well again. She wants you to find out more information on that man from her dreams.

Right by Miyazu in the hallway is a female student. She will inform you that there is a guy who knows all about mythology. He can be found on the second floor after school.

After school, go to the second floor then head east down the hallway until the dead end. The student will be to the right. Talk to him then report back to Miyazu.

Rewards: 3x Can of Jelly; 500 EXP

Infiltrate the Demon Feast

Find Dazai on the cliffs Southeast of the Shinagawa Pier and talk to him to start the quest.

You will control Amanozako to explore specific marked locations. Investigate each one until you find a Mermaid. Talk to the Mermaid to lure away the guards who are blocking the way to the kitchen.

Speak to the demon in the Kitchen to start a fight and defeat it to complete the quest.

Rewards: Segata III Game Console; 2200 EXP
