Predecessor continues to grow and has shown no signs of slowing down over the last week. The game smashed yet another player milestone, developer Omeda Studios keeps teasing incredible upcoming skins, and the game’s felt more lively than ever before.
1 Million Players

The best and biggest Predecessor news from the past week is that the game managed to soar from 750,000 players to a cool 1 million. That’s an astounding number of players in a third-person MOBA built on the corpse of a game dropped by Fortnite’s developer.
There are two sides to this news that I love. First, it flies in the face of doubt. There have been plenty of people out there who thought Predecessor would’ve failed long before now. Paragon was dropped, Predecessor: The Overprime has crashed, but Predecessor continues to flourish. It shows there’s a market for this game and a hunger for this type of gameplay.
Second, this news raises Predecessor’s profile and shows the current Open Beta version across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S is a fantastic game to get into. Milestones like this can push a game to continue to grow because people see the popularity and want to know what all the fuss is about.
However, this can be scary too, and could lead to the game’s downfall. But that would only happen if Omeda Studios didn’t capitalize on the popularity with cheap bundles and new content. Thankfully, Predecessor gets a new hero every 9 weeks, so there’s no need to worry about a lack of engaging content, and the newish Bundles for multiple heroes give newcomers a way to dive in deep in a game that does ask for a big time commitment from you.
Grux, Under the Sea Edition

A little while back, Omeda Studios teased some upcoming undersea skins for Predecessor’s heroes. My boy, the one and only Grux, is getting a tortoise skin to die for, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I have no insight as to whether this skin is coming out anytime soon, but the fact that it’s been shared recently indicates that something must be coming along quickly on the developer’s end.
Look, I’m a simple guy with simple needs. I love Grux, he’s genuinely viable in any lane or role, and making him a tortoise would be absolutely perfect.
A Thriving Player Base For Predecessor
I’ve played a lot of Predecessor this week, and I can see and feel the growth we’re experiencing as a community. More players means matches start up faster and I can feel my skills increasing as I play more alongside those new to the game.
While Predecessor has been around for a couple of years, it’s still very young as far as MOBAs go. It’s got a much smaller pool of heroes than other games in the genre and doesn’t quite have the drive behind it for an eSports scene just yet. But the foundations for all this are forming now as the game rushes through major milestones each week. Hopefully, I’ll be able to report on an even more significant number next week.
Don’t forget, you can read through the previous issue of Pred Talk right now if you want to stay up to date with the Predecessor community. It was all about Grim.exe and how much we love our new hero.
