While numerous styles and brands of controllers are available for the Nintendo Switch, PowerA remains a favorite for quality, build, and design. The Lumectra Enhanced Wireless Controller is no exception, combining sleek RGB with a reliable build.
RGB controllers are particularly popular with gamers due to their dazzling lighting and programmable color options. From vibrant lighting in PC towers to accents on accessories, RGB is a great way to add to a setup or aesthetic.
Bonus Action has had a hands-on look at the PowerA Lumectra Enhanced Wireless controller, and we have put together the breakdown of how the high-end gaming accessory is a solid choice for Nintendo Switch fans.

Quality and Ergonomic Design Create A Comfortable and Reliable Device
PowerA is known for quality above all other elements. The Enhanced Wireless series offers a sturdy build, with weight that sits nicely in the palm. The input buttons are firm when pressed and the directional pad doesn’t feel loose or cheap.
The analogs on the PowerA Enhanced Wireless are some of my favorites. The ridges on the thumb grips prevent slips while playing and are big enough to support the fingers comfortably.
The controller’s wireless capabilities are reliable even when twelve feet from the paired console, and the battery life is reasonable for a controller with RGB. Overall, it is exactly what I want from a high-end accessory, making the price point worth it.
Brilliant RGB That Is A Pain To Program
The black Enhanced Wireless Controller with Lumectra RGB offers Switch fans a Nintendo-certified accessory option with some exciting effects. RGB lighting is set into the base of the analog sticks, directional pad, input buttons, and faceplate of the device.
The RGB isn’t as noticeable in bright daylight, but it stands out well in darker rooms. The controller supports multi-zone lighting, with 24 colors that can be customized for unique effects.
Unfortunately, getting the RGB set up to a desired color and effect is not easy. Players will have to access program mode, and then work through the four separate zones using the directional buttons to set the colors. I found myself wishing for an app or program to help streamline the process.
However, once set up, it doesn’t reset, and players can reliably enjoy the effects while gaming.
Almost Too Simple
The Lumectra Wireless Enhanced Controller does add something extra to a gaming experience, but at times, I wish the RGB were more intricately laid into the device.
This is a great option for Nintendo Switch gamers who don’t want anything too intrusive when it comes to lighting, but for fans of controllers like FUNLAB, it may feel a bit underwhelming. It would be interesting to see the Lumectra designs worked into a Pokemon controller, where the RGB could light up Pikachu’s attacks across the faceplate.
It could also be fun to see RGB designs through the markings on The Legend of Zelda accessories. The combination would appeal to fans, and make gaming sessions that much more exciting.
Final Score – 7/10
The PowerA Lumectra Enhanced Wireless Controller is a great option for Nintendo Switch fans looking for something sleek with extra flair. It offers everything desired in a high-end wireless controller but upgrades the experience with programmable RGB.
While it is a bit basic for those who enjoy more stylized options, it is not a controller to pass up and will provide ergonomic comfort with solid battery life while gaming.
This is a solid pick for any gamer, and will specifically enhance the more minimalistic and sleek Nintendo Switch setups.
