During Gamescom 2024’s Opening Night Live, Prime Video revealed a project it’s been working on for some time. Secret Level is a series of original short stories set in the worlds of some of the most well-loved video game universes we all feel a deep connection to.
Secret Level takes the form of a captivating adult-animation series that spans all sorts of video game worlds, from Warhammer 40K‘s grim dark universe and Unreal Tournament‘s dystopic future, to Sifu‘s grimy streets and neon-soaked club and, of course, the colossal, epic fantasy world of Dungeons & Dragons.
They Aren’t Movies in Your Head Any Longer
In the trailer for Secret Level, Prime Video isn’t holding back with this project. It explores the biggest and best universes video games have to offer, with some of the most compelling and thought-provoking stories that have kept you up at night long after a playthrough.
Below is a list of the 15 epic game universes that inspired Secret Level‘s stories. They’ll be hitting Prime Video on December 10, 2024, in over 240 countries worldwide, so you should be able to watch them wherever you are.
- Armored Core
- Concord
- Crossfire
- Dungeons & Dragons
- Exodus
- Honor of Kings
- Mega Man
- New World: Aeternum
- PAC-MAN
- PlayStation (Highlighting various PlayStation Studios beloved entities)
- Sifu
- Spelunky
- The Outer Worlds
- Unreal Tournament
- Warhammer 40,000
I’m extremely excited to see what Prime Video has managed to create for every single game universe in this list. At the time of writing, I’m diving into Concord‘s early access, and I can’t wait to experience the universe in another way.
However, if I had to pick just one game that I think demonstrates exactly why Secret Level is a project you should keep an eye on, it’s Sifu. The game has very little dialogue, with a story told mostly through fists and death. Yet that game has a story that’s etched into my mind because I’ve played it and played it. I know the streets, bridges, zen gardens, caves, and opening sequence better than I know the nooks and crannies of my home.
When you play a game, you can’t help but imagine the ‘what ifs’ of certain scenarios – How things would look if you could make just one change or tell another story. That’s what Secret Level appears to be.

Finally, you might have noticed a few pesky ads around the place. They help keep the lights on, but we’d love to be able to turn them off.
