Pokémon Legends Z-A finally has a release date, and it’s bringing Mega battles to Lumiose this fall.
Before today, we already knew plenty about Pokémon Legends Z-A. It’s set in Lumiose City, deep in the Kalos region. Your base of operations is Hotel Z. The gameplay features real-time battles and urban wild zones. There’s a dynamic day-night cycle, and the Z-A Royale introduces a new ranked battle system. Starters are Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig.
Now we know the date.

Pokémon Legends Z-A Set to Land in Fall
The Pokémon Company International announced today that Pokémon Legends: Z-A and its enhanced Switch 2 version will launch on October 16, 2025. Digital pre-orders open June 5 on the Nintendo eShop.
Unlike Legends: Arceus, which featured sprawling natural environments, Z-A shifts the action into a single dense city. You’ll explore different sectors of Lumiose while responding to missions from your hotel base. It’s a more focused setting, but packed with new mechanics and gameplay systems that aim to evolve the series further.
Battles happen in real time, with players moving mid-fight and needing to consider timing and positioning. The Z-A Royale introduces a fresh competitive angle with a rank system that climbs from Z to A. Trainers can prove their skills against others while climbing the city’s power ladder.
Urban wild zones add a twist by mixing city environments with traditional catching mechanics. The day and night cycle influences Pokémon appearances and possibly mission types. Mega Evolutions are confirmed, including old favorites like Gardevoir and Lucario. There are whispers of 27 new Mega forms, but not all have been officially confirmed yet.
Hotel Z acts as your mission hub and narrative anchor. The game promises to address criticisms of Arceus, especially about gameplay depth and Pokédex functionality.
October is quickly becoming a monster-hunting paradise.
