Since it first came out back in 2024, I’ve been a devoted daily Pokémon TCG Pocket player. What can I say? I love opening Pokémon cards, and the digital ones don’t take up a lot of space in my tiny house. Naturally, having the game in my daily rotation means I’m always eager to see what’s next. And DeNA loves a good teaser, often giving fans a little hint about what’s to come the day before a new trailer drops. This time was no exception, and the next major update for the mobile Pokémon TCG is going to shake things up from the norm.
On September 24th, Pokémon TCG Pocket announced the return of its Deluxe Pack expansion type. But this time, it’s not a rerun for the Series A Deluxe Pack. Instead, we’re getting a brand new Deluxe Pack: MEGA for the B Series. This collection, which releases on September 29th at 9 PM ET, will bring back cards from every B Series expansion thus far. Like the original Deluxe Pack expansion, it will also include new parallel foil designs and fresh illustrations for certain cards.
The Deluxe Pack Returns for Series B in Pokémon TCG Pocket Next Week
The original Deluxe Pack concept has been a bit controversial for fans. In theory, it’s great to have a dedicated expansion that helps players fill in their missing cards from prior packs. Its release also gives us some time to catch up with the aggressive monthly release schedule for new packs. However, the added foil designs and limited-time nature of these expansions can certainly create a new FOMO problem in the game. Clearly, though, DeNA plans to keep the concept around, at least for now. Because we’re getting a shiny new Deluxe Pack for the B Series!
You can get a first look at the new Deluxe Pack: MEGA, including some of the fresh designs arriving alongside the returning B Series cards, in the trailer below:
As you can see, the Deluxe Pack: MEGA expansion will bring back cards from all prior B Series packs. Each pack will include a guaranteed Pokémon ex card, making it a bit easier to fill in the gaps from prior packs. There will also be new parallel foil designs and Shiny cards to collect, along with a few brand-new illustrations for existing cards. The Deluxe Pack: MEGA arrives in Pokémon TCG Pocket next week on September 29th. Fingers crossed it helps me finally finish those Series B sets I’ve been struggling with.
