In Graveyard Keeper 2, “just throw a line in” gets you laughed at by a Roach for the fortieth time while the Mythic Carp you actually want sits three tiers of Live Bait away. This guide lays out every fish, every spot, the bait that actually works, and what rod tier you need before you stop feeding the Sewers and start feeding your bank account.

How to Get a Fishing Rod

Before you can start fishing in Graveyard Keeper 2, you’ll need to get your first fishing rod. Here’s how to find it.

1. Open the tech tree and unlock Pottery under the Buildings tab, following the line Concept of Wood → Concept of Stone → Pottery.
2. Build the Sawhorse to get logs, then use the Chopping Block to turn those logs into wood wedges.
3. Build the Stone Master’s Workbench and process stone into the materials the Pottery Wheel needs.
4. Use the wood wedges and processed stone to build the Pottery Wheel, which is the station that actually lets you craft pots. Grab a shovel and dig up clay from any nearby clay deposit.
5. Craft 6 Clay Pots at the Pottery Wheel.
6. Track down the twins, the “Two Peas in a Pod” quest, and hand over all 6 clay pots to complete it.
7. Take the Fishing Rod as their reward, equip it, and head to any marked fishing spot to start casting.
