Magical Delicacy is a big favorite here at Bonus Action, offering witchy cooking, platforming, cute pixel art, and a solid story. But despite the game being a ton of fun at launch, developer Skaule is determined to make it even better. Today, the Magical Delicacy 1.2 update arrived on Steam. It’s packed with scrumptious quality of life improvements and more.
Though Magical Delicacy is a ton of fun, it’s a challenge. The new update seeks to balance that out by adding difficulty settings and quality of life improvements. Now, gamers can take things a bit easier with the “relaxing” setting or put themselves on hard mode with the “Challenging” level. But that’s not all. New quality-of-life improvements make Magical Delicacy even more of a delight with the 1.2 update on Steam.
We already thought Magical Delicacy was a must-play. But if you’ve been waiting, now is the perfect time to finally pick this one up. After all, it just got even better!

Magical Delicacy Patch Notes for PC Update 1.2

This latest update aims to streamline a few lingering player complaints about playability. And in my opinion, these changes are a serious quality-of-life win that’s got me tempted to go back and play through the whole game again! Here are the highlights for this latest Magical Delicacy patch, available now on Steam.
Difficulty Settings
Players can now choose between three difficulties when playing Magical Delicacy. The new settings, as described by Skaule, are:
Relaxing – The relaxing preset offers a more easygoing experience. You’ll start with additional items and keepsakes (Keepsakes are used in the game to unlock new features and abilities.) Easy Platforming will be enabled by default.
Normal – The normal preset offers a balanced experience. Based on the feedback on the game since its release.
Challenging – The challenging preset offers a strongly unguided experience. This aims to provide a more difficult experience, as envisioned in the original release, focused on limited resources and exploration that requires deep engagement with the map and mechanics to progress.
New Adjustable Setting Options
You can further customize your Magical Delicacy experience with the following new adjustable settings:
- General Adjustments tweak a variety of parameters in the game to adjust the overall difficulty.
- Easy Platforming has been moved from the accessibility section to the difficulty settings. Easy Platforming disabled most platforms with timed elements and various level hazards.
- Successful Wares Hint indicates for each of your created wares whether they can be delivered to an active order.
- Delivery Directions shows you the direction towards characters with actively pinned orders, while in the same level with them to help you find that last stretch of the way.
- Faster Plant Growth decreases the time needed for plants to regrow within the town and in your garden.
- Disable Equipment Limit allows you to use all equippable keepsakes simultaneously.
- Increase Inventory Capacity allows you to double the inventory limit.
- Instant Cooking eliminates all cooking times and prevents burning.
- Rewards allow you to adjust the amount of beads you receive for delivering an order.
Adjustable Tutorial
You can now also tweak how in-depth the tutorial will be. This is great for replaying or for gamers who prefer a little trial-and-error.
- Normal shows the full amount of tutorial hints.
- Reduced removes a lot of tutorial hints aimed at basic controls and easily understood mechanics for anyone who’s familiar with similar games.
- Minimal shows as few tutorials as possible for anyone who wants to find out on their own, except for some very specific explanations in select cases.
New “Teleport Home” Mechanic
A new Whistle of Crows keepsake further streamlines fast travel. Once acquired, this item lets you easily return home.
Other Improvements
The 1.2 update for Magical Delicacy adds several other quality-of-life adjustments. Here’s the list of what’s new:
- Silas will now be available as a merchant and sell Ancient Cap after giving some out for free.
- The inventory can now hold up to 99 (previously 19) ingredients of a single type – inventory limit still applies.
- Significantly increased amount of compost that can be stacked in the compost.
- The Altar now shows the required item rarity once the first item is placed.
- Cooking Modules will now show before purchase if they can be used to enhance ingredients.
- Improved the guide graphic for the “determining flavors” entry to more clearly display the specific intensities of flavors.
- You can now set the game to mute all audio while in the background/unfocused. You can find this setting in the audio settings. (Only on PC)
