Basic Gameplay Overview

In Magical Delicacy, you play as the young aspiring witch Flora. You’ve come to the town of Grat to learn how to be a full-fledged witch, hoping to find other witches to learn from.
Along the way, you’re going to make magical treats for the people of Grat. The gameplay has two basic components – exploring the world to find ingredients & customers, and preparing recipes to fill orders.
You will also unlock new kitchen components and increase the size of your available space so you can make more recipes (and store more ingredients).
There is an overarching storyline that will progress as you deliver orders and talk to the people of Grat as well.
TIP: Any time someone has something new to share with you, you’ll see a yellow dot by that prompt. That’s a hint that you’re about to get a new order, see new items, or progress the story in some way. so be sure to talk to folks frequently and look out for these yellow indicators!
Magical Delicacy Hints & Difficulty Settings
As of June 2025, the game now offers difficulty settings to help you choose how hard you want your Magical Delicacy journey to be. The different levels of difficulty impact your starting gear and prices for items. The difficulty settings are:
- Relaxing
- Normal
- Challenging
The June 2025 update also added some new settings that gamers can adjust to further customize their Magical Delicacy experience. These options can be toggled on or off depending on your preference:
- Successful Wares Hint: A new hint system that shows you which of your created dishes and potions can be delivered to an active order.
- Delivery Directions: While on the same level as a customer with an active order, you’ll be able to see the direction of that customer.
- Other Quality-of-Life Options, including Faster Plant Growth, Disable Equipment Limit, Increase Inventory Capacity, Instant Cooking, and adjustable Rewards
Do You Need to Use a Controller for Magical Delicacy?
Yes, the developers highly recommend using a controller for Magical Delicacy. After playing the game, I agree – even if you’re playing the PC version, connect a controller if at all possible.
The platforming nature of exploring the world map requires some quick reflexes that might be tricky with mouse & keyboard. You can turn off some of the reactions required for cooking & collecting ingredients in the accessibility settings.
Is Magical Delicacy on Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, users with an Xbox Game Pass subscription will be able to play Magical Delicacy for free as part of their membership.
Is Magical Delicacy on the Nintendo Switch?
Yes, as of August 15, 2024, Magical Delicacy is available on Nintendo Switch as well as PC through Steam & Xbox GamePass for PC and Xbox Series X | S.
Magical Delicacy will release for PS4 and PS5 in 2025.
Does Magical Delicacy Have Romance?
No, Magical Delicacy does not feature romanceable PCs. You’re focused on witchy tasks and delivering orders, and you don’t really choose your dialogue or interactions with the NPCs in a way that would lend itself to romance.
How Long Does it Take to Beat Magical Delicacy?
Magical Delicacy is a platformer and cooking game, which means your mileage will vary depending on a) how often you fall down trying to get places and b) how quickly you’re able to fill customer orders.
For me, completing the main story and all outstanding orders took about 28 hours. If you fall down less often than I did, you might be able to blaze through the story more quickly. Or if you take your time and really settle in to the cozy pixel vibes, it may take a bit longer.
Magical Delicacy Currency & How to Get It
In Magical Delicacy, there are a few different kinds of currency. The people of Grat primarily trade in Beads, which you’ll use to buy basic ingredients and tools around town.
You can earn Beads in the following ways:
- Complete Delivery Orders
- Sell Items from the Store Window (Once Unlocked)
- Break Vases Around Town as You Explore
- Sell Extra Ingredients to Merchants
Feathers are a rarer currency used to unlock recipes and other higher-value items. You will find them in small glowing chests as you explore new areas for the first time, and they’ll also be offered as occasion rewards for higher-level delivery requests.
Finally, the skull bones are the most valuable currency used to unlock the highest-value items. They are hard to come by but you’ll occasionally get them as rewards for more challenging deliveries.
How to Get New Recipes

There are a few different ways to get new recipes in Magical Delicacy, so let’s break them down. You don’t need a recipe to make most dishes, but some delivery requests will specifically ask you to follow a given recipe to produce their dish.
Buy Recipes From Merchants
Most of the merchants you meet will have at least a few recipes for sale. Recipes usually cost Feathers, a more rare currency than Beads.
Experiment in the Kitchen
You will also uncover recipes as you experiment with combining ingredients in the kitchen.
Collect them from the World Map
Occasionally, you might also find recipes as dropped items when you explore the world. This is pretty rare in my experience, but there are a few – like Kilin Soup – that you’ll come across this way.
How to Delete Failed Meals in Magical Delicacy
Deleting failed meals and tinctures isn’t straightforward in Magical Delicacy, but you can do it with the help of the Composter.

You can buy the Compost item from Ajea’s Woodworking for 305 Beads. Once you place it in your kitchen, you’ll be able to use it to dispose of up to 4 failed meals at a time.
To dispose of meals, interact with the composter. Then, select the failed meal you’d like to compost.

To empty out the composter, select “Take Compost.” This will process for a moment and free up one slot for you to discard another failed recipe.
Compost is like water in that you can only hold it temporarily before it disappears. Place the Composter in a slot near your garden so you can run out and fertilize your crops before the bar runs out!
Fertilizing your crops will increase their yield, earning you 3 of each planted item instead of 2.
How to Change Your Outfit in Magical Delicacy
You will occasionally unlock new color palettes for Flora’s outfit in Magical Delicacy by exploring and fulfilling orders.
Once you have more than one color palette available, you can switch between them by interacting with the wardrobe in Flora’s bedroom on the middle floor of the bakery. As you’ll see from my screenshots, I opted for a swap to a mostly blue palette early on.
You can also mix and match between your shirt, pants, and jackets to get creative with the color palettes!
How to Switch Your Equipped Keepsakes in Magical Delicacy
You can only equip a total of 7 keepsakes, which means you’ll eventually need to choose which perks you want at any given time.
To switch your keepsakes, you’ll need to be at home in Flora’s Delicacies. Then, open your menu and scroll to the Keepsakes area.

In the Equippable Keepsake area, simply click on the Keepsake you want to unequip. Then, choose the Keepsake you’d like to replace it with and click on that one.
There is a little scarf icon to indicate which keepsakes are currently equippped so you can easily see which are active and which are not.
How to Edit Flora’s Delicacies Store

To edit your store, you’ll need to interact with the Blueprint on the middle floor of Flora’s Delicacies. This will open up edit mode, where you can move or place items. You’ll see white brackets in any space where items can be placed or where you can pick up items.
Storage units can’t be moved unless they’re empty, which can be a bit frustrating thanks to the limited inventory size.
Before you can use the items you’ve placed, you’ll need to go back to the Blueprint and exit editing mode.
How to Expand the Store in Magical Delicacy
As you buy more kitchen tools, you’ll quickly run out of space to put them. Thankfully, you can increase your kitchen size so there’s more space to craft your wares.
To expand your basement and upstairs areas in Magical Delicacy, you’ll need to visit Hyge at Town Hall. You can buy the expansion permits from them for a few hundred Beads each.
Once you buy a permit, you will automatically have access to that area, where you can place more items in your kitchen.
TIP: A new Whistle of Crows keepsake was added in the June 2025 update, making it easier to teleport home.
How to Get a Map in Magical Delicacy

If your brain refuses to keep hold of location information like mine does, you’ll probably spend your early playtime wishing you could consult a map. I’ve got good news on that front – you can gain access to a world map!
When you meet the young explorer Colo for the first time, they’ll offer you a map. They also sell markers you can use to indicate important locations and other map-related items, so check their stock to help you navigate the confusing layout of Grat.

Colo hangs out in a few key locations including the Ryferfarer Station and remote locations throughout Grat. I first found them high above the Western Market, up several sets of stairs above the city.
Once you have the map, you can buy various map markers from Colo. As of the 1.1 PC update, this includes new Plant Markers for ingredients and Delivery Markers to help you remember where to go to fulfill your latest delivery.
How to Get the Bridge Pass

Personally, I didn’t happen upon the bridge to the Upper Market until I’d already unlocked it. However, if you’re feeling stumped by this unpassable bridge, we’ve got the solution – complete your first delivery for Princess Adelaide.
You will find her standing with her guard Amara in the Central Plaza during this early gameplay stage. Take her order and deliver the right recipe and she will personally gift you a bridge pass.
How to Get the Elevator Pass

The elevator is one of the earliest time-saving travel tricks you’ll be able to unlock. The Elevator Pass is available for purchase at the Town Hall from your froggy friend.
Town Hall is an upper level of Grat, to the right of the Elevator and the Bridge to the Upper Market.
How to Unlock Access to the Palace Gardens

A Royal Guard near the special Palace elevator will refuse to grant you entry, meaning you won’t be able to enjoy the Palace Gardens at first.
To gain access, complete orders for Princess Adelaide and her guard, Amara. Once the princess learns to trust you – after you complete her second delivery – she’ll invite you up to the gardens on personal invitation.
How to Unlock Higher Jumps

If some areas seem just out of reach at first, that’s by design. You will be able to unlock a higher jump eventually, which opens up the world of Grat for further exploration.
The first time you meet Cassia, the Shena Witch, she’ll give you a pendant that lets you double jump. This will be a huge help, but that’s just the first level of higher jumps she has to offer.
Cassia will teach you to control the mists to raise you higher after you visit her hut and complete her first order. The hut is located high above the Western Market and you will find her here after your initial run-in with the witches.

How to Get Through the Shadowy Areas

Where Cassia taught you to control mist, it’s Tauno the Keskar Witch who will help you navigate the shadows.
When you find Tauno’s hut for the first time, they will grant you the ability to turn into a small shadowy cat to creep through those shadowy narrow spaces on the map. This grants you even more exploring capabilities and helps you find new areas in Grat.
Tauno’s hut is located on the far right of the map, just below the Old Lift.

How to Unlock Fast Travel
There are a few “shortcuts” you can eventually use to teleport around town. These fast travel methods are related to the different witch covens you meet in town.
Cassia will unlock the Fountain Network after you complete your initial training with her. You can then go to any fountain in the network and interact with it to teleport to another fountain.
Tauno will unlock the Crow Network after you find them in their hut at the edge of Grat. This network functions just like the fountains, with the ability to select any crow travel spot and teleport to another one.
TIP: You can fast travel to your house directly by using the new Whistle of Crows keepsake item, added in the June 2025 update.
How to Remove Vines

In your exploration of Grat, you’ll come across large vines that block your path in certain areas. The first is near Shana, who will remark that there must be something that can help remove them.
The answer is, of course, a potion! Or one of a few potions, actually.
The Wither Elixir is the earliest and easiest one to unlock and craft. You can buy the recipe from Shana at her shop. Once you craft it in your cauldron, take it to the vines and interact with them. Select that potion to use on the vines, and they’ll vanish.
You can also remove them with fire if you prefer. Any of the Ember potion recipes such as Ember Brew will also remove the vines when used, burning them out of your path.
How to Unlock the Broom
Yes, witches, you’ll eventually be able to cover horizontal distances by riding your very own broomstick! The broom is unlocked in an area to the right of the Tea Shop.

There, you will see a willow tree. Interact with it and Flora will create a broomstick. You’ll need it to get out of this area, so if you’re feeling stuck, look for the willow tree!
Once you have the broom, you’ll use the left trigger on your controller to use it. For me on a DualSense, this is the L2 button. Similar to using your mist jump, hold down a moment and then release, and Flora will fly off in the direction she’s facing. Best used for the edge of a cliff near an open space.
NOTE: For PC players, the Broom now has a more robust tutorial to help you use it as of the 1.1 Update.
How to Prove Your Keskar Allegiance to the Tall Hoarder
When walking through the plaza at night, you may happen upon a brightly lit tent. If you enter, the mysterious Tall Hoarder figure will say “Keskar only” and ask you to prove it to trade with him.

So, how can you prove it? Our Keskar Witch friend Tauno is the key. When you first visit their hut, they’ll grant you the Keskar Insignia, which will show your belonging to the coven. Then, you’ll be able to trade with the Tall Hoarder and get your hands on some seriously legendary goods.
Where To Find the Church to Meet Cassia
Cassia will only accept her Spirit Elixir order at the Church of the River, which means you’ll need to find it before you can complete this order and progress the plot.
The Church of the River can only be accessed after you meet with Tauno and learn to become a smol shadow cat to crawl through small spaces. Once you do, the church can be found at this location on the map:

How to Get Voidmilk in Magical Delicacy
Voidmilk is one of the trickiest ingredients to track down, but there are a few recipes that require it – including one for a side quest with Tauno. There is a recipe that you can find in the game, but it’s not in an obvious spot.
The voidmilk recipe is located in Tauno’s hut in a secret location that’s tricky to notice. If you head to the right of Tauno, you’ll be able to drop through the floor into a secret lower level.

Once you’re down there, head to the left. You will see a shadowy narrow space that you can get through by transforming into your Cat form. In this small room, you will find a box that has the recipe for Voidmilk, which you can then follow to complete recipes as needed!
How to Get the Dragonlure Recipe for Silas
Creating the Dragonlure recipe is one of the last orders you’ll fill in Magical Delicacy – and one of the trickiest. Silas gives you the list of ingredients, but says he doesn’t remember the recipe.
Even though the order says to “follow the Dragonlure recipe,” there’s currently no known way to acquire the recipe. It’s a trial-and-error process, which is tricky because Silas only gives you two Ancient Caps to experiment with. Thankfully, the June 2025 update added the ability to buy more of them, so you should be able to more safely experiment now. Here’s the combination we found that creates the Dragonlure:

To make the Dragonlure, you’ll need to use the Cauldron. We cooked it under Moonlight to be safe. Add the following ingredients (plus water) to your cauldron:
- Roasted Ancient Cap
- Graypit Milk
- A Foul Ingredient (we used Wildvine)
- A Fruit (We used Cloudberries)
This will create the Dragonlure you need to fufill Silas’ quest and move the plot along.
What Happens if You Buy the Deed to Your Shop?
Upstanding Grat citizens no doubt want to pay off the Store Deed in Town Hall. If you’re like me, you wondered what exciting things would happen when you did.
When you pay off the store loan, you’ll acquire a keepsake that shows you own the shop. You’ll also sign some paperwork with Hyge that specifically states you can’t have anyone else living there. Doing so grants you the option to kick Hina out of the store, if you want. You’ll see it under the “Ask” dialogue option.
If you click this, you’ll get a prompt asking if you really want to kick her out. I didn’t have the heart to do it, but given the fact that you get the option to abort this choice it seems like kicking her out really does remove Hina as your roommate.
What is the Postgame for Magical Delicacy?
After the credits roll, you can continue to play Magical Delicacy. The main story is over, but you can “wrap up loose ends” as the game says.
If you have side quest orders that you haven’t filled or taken on yet, you can still do them once the main story is over. You can also keep experimenting with recipes and selling items out of your shop. Aside from any unfilled side quest orders from before, it doesn’t look like there’s much else you can do in the post game – at least, not yet.
Customer Order Guide – Tips for Completing & What They Unlock
Accepting Customer Orders

When you talk to people around Grat, they’ll often ask you for dishes based on their tastes. You can always tell when someone is asking for an order, because an “Accept Order” prompt will pop up. There’s no limit to how many orders you can accept, but you can delay orders if you’re getting overwhelmed.
Once you accept an order, it will show up in the Orders area of your menu. You can pin it to the sidebar and reference the request as you collect ingredients. A total of 3 recipes can be pinned at any one time.

Some orders will ask you to follow a specific recipe. You pin up to 3 recipes to the sidebar right alongside your orders for easy reference.
TIP: Even customers who request a recipe will sometimes have flavor preferences. I like to keep both the request & recipe pinned as I prepare dishes to make sure I get all the right qualities in my final dish. Thanks to the new Successful Wares Hint, you’ll be able to see when a dish meets the requirements for an active order.
Customer Order Rewards
Customers usually pay you in Beads, the primary currency of Grat. You can use these to buy ingredients from the various merchants you encounter.
In addition to Beads, some customers will also give you the higher-level Feathers currency. These are used to unlock recipes and purchase keepsakes from certain merchants.
Fulfilling orders also increases your relationship with characters around town, granting you access to new skills, areas, and parts of the story. We’ve noted which quests help you progress your exploration with Fast Travel, passes to unseen areas, and more in the FAQ section above.
If you’re stuck on a specific customer order, check out our Magical Delicacy quest guide for tips on how to fill each one.

Hi love the walkthrough and I could not have completed some customer orders without your guide. Could you do a map of where each outfit palette is located? I think I’m missing a few
Thanks so much and happy to help! We can definitely look into adding the outfit palattes in a future update.
Hi, I finished the game and decided to kick out Hina to see what happens. There is, let’s call a last request: after kicking her out you will found her in the next screen to the left and you will have the opportunity to cook for her an elixir. after completing this last task you can invite her back to the house. So maybe this is a new information that could be useful if you want to do this “hidden” task. 🙂
Thanks so much for this tip! We’ll have to check it out and add this in to our guide. 🙂
