There have been a lot of Nintendo-themed LEGO sets lately, and a new leak suggests that we might be getting another one based on the original Donkey Kong arcade cabinet soon. So far, we have seen LEGO sets modeled after hit Nintendo properties like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing, with the most recent crossover being a whole line of Pokémon sets that integrate LEGO’s new interactive Smart Brick technology.
Donkey Kong has already been represented in LEGO form as well, thanks largely to his pre-existing connection to the Super Mario franchise (Mario first appeared in his game, after all). Collectors can build Nintendo’s big ape mascot and his trusty barrel car with the LEGO Super Mario & Mario Kart – Donkey Kong and DK Jumbo set, visit his jungle home with the Donkey Kong’s Tree House set, or even take a ride through the mines with the Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride set.
LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade Set Rumored For August 2026
Now we might be getting another LEGO Donkey Kong set later this summer, at least according to a new leak from Brick Built Blogs over on Twitter. Their sources claim that this “Donkey Kong Arcade Game” set is based on the original Donkey Kong arcade cabinet from 1981 and will include characters like Jumpman (the original name for Mario), Lady (Mario’s original love interest before Princess Peach), and DK himself alongside steel girders, ladders, hammers, and more. There is even a barrel-dropping function that lets you send barrels rolling down the track with the pull of a lever.
While no official information has been verified yet, this leaked LEGO Donkey Kong will supposedly hit stores on August 1 at a retail price of $200 USD. It will consist of 1367 LEGO pieces and measure approximately 39 cm tall, 27 cm wide, and 15 cm deep.
Like the previously rumored LEGO PlayStation set, this new Donkey Kong release seems to be aimed at older collectors, given its high price point and large number of pieces. So far, neither LEGO nor Nintendo has verified the existence of this set, but they probably will soon if it is indeed coming in August.
