Warframe‘s Koumei & the Five Fates update added a brand new Warframe to unlock and master. On top of that, the game has introduced an interesting activity that can be accessed pretty early on in the story.
While the update doesn’t have any new story missions, the content has lore implications for the entire game. I have to say, having spent a while with Koumei, she’s one of the best Warframes out there from both a gameplay and concept point of view.
Below, I’ve outlined everything you could need to know about Warframe: Koumei & the Five Fates. Have a read-through because I guarantee I’ve noted down at least one thing you don’t have the patience for.

How to Complete Saya’s Visions in Warframe

To start Saya’s Visions activities in Warframe, check your mail. You’ll have a new message from Saya telling you to visit her in Cetus.
Once you find her in the market, head to Koumei’s Shrine, which is back on the beach on Cetus.
From Koumei’s Shrine, start the Saya’s Vision activity. It’s short, and tasks you with defending two points on a beach during one of Saya’s fitful dreams. The Infested are attacking the beach and must be defeated.

Collect offerings from Infested and deliver them to the zones, completing tasks for Koumei. After you’ve collected enough, you’ll have an exterminate round where you’ve got to kill a set number of Infested.
Once you’ve defeated the required number of Infested, an Infested Oni is going to appear.
How to Defeat the Infested Oni
After it spawns, don’t try to fight the Infested Oni. Instead, gather more offerings and kill enemies to level up. The enemies here are immensely overpowered and will take you down with ease without the needed pre-prep.
It is important to note that there is a delay from when you complete the mission to the notification that it is over. Don’t quit until you’ve seen it pop.
How to Get Fate Pearls
Fate Pearls are a resource found in Shrines when playing Warframe: Koumei & the Five Fates. They are new as of this expansion and are specifically dropped from defeated Infested Oni.
These are then offered to the shrine for blueprints and components used in crafting Koumei and several other items in the game.
How to Get Koumei in Warframe

There are two main ways to get Koumei for free in Warframe. First, complete Saya’s Visions activities and earn Fate Pearls to buy her Blueprints from the Koumei Shrine in Cetus.
The second way to get her is by earning her Blueprints as drops from activities. I managed to get some of these while completing Saya’s Visions runs, but they may drop from others.
Foor those unconcerned about spending a little cash, this Warframe can also be purchased via the Koumei Visions Bundle, which gives you the new Warframe and her weapons immediately. It’ll cost you a pretty penny, but it gets you one of the most impressive Warframes in the game fast so you can get on with rolling the dice.
Is the Warframe: Koumei Visions Bundle Worth it?

Yes, the Warframe; Koumei Visions Bundle is worth it if you want to get Koumei, Higasa, Amanata, and some additional Platinum to get things rolling with a new Warframe.
However, the bundle does cost Platinum/real-world cash, so I’d say you should only purchase it if you’re really invested in Warframe and already own most of the other Warframes, or want to give yourself a boost and experience the latest abilities immediately.
Last but not least, this bundle is just a great way to support the developer. Considering how much free content the game gets each year, buying a bundle is just a wholesome thing to do.
How to get Higasa in Warframe
You can get Higasa, Koumei’s new firearm, in Warframe by purchasing it with Fate Pearls from Koumei’s Shrine or by getting its Blueprint as a drop from Saya’s Visions. As with Koumei herself, you can also get this from the Koumei Visions Bundle.
How to Get Amanata in Warframe
To get Amanta in Warframe, you can buy it from Koumei’s Shrine using Fate Pearls or earn it as a drop from Saya’s Visions activities. It’s also part of the Koumei Visions Bundle, so you can get it right away if you’re super keen to start hacking away with it.
How to Create a Great Build for Koumei in Warframe

To create a great build for Koumei in Warframe, you’ve got to keep her abilities in mind. I’ve listed these below.
- Kumihimo: Koumei throws out threads of destiny that will deal damage and random elemental status effects to enemies they touch. A roll of triple sixes creates threads of every elemental status effect, which is pretty damn cool.
- Omikuji: Koumei glimpses a favorable future and you get a challenge that you must complete for a temporary buff. Unlucky rolls add a debuff, and you can reject the challenge by holding the skill trigger buttons. A roll of triple sixes just hands you a buff without a challenge, which I have never encountered yet but sounds amazing.
- Omamori: Koumei surrounds herself with charms. This is a visually stunning skill, and every charm has a chance to turn enemy attacks into healing. The number of charms is determined by the dice roll, and a roll of triple sixes will give you invulnerability for the duration of the charms.
- Bunraku: Koumei rolls the dice and strings enemies up by strings like marionettes. The dice roll determines how many status effects are inflicted. A roll of triple sixes causes even more damage over time and extends the ability to enemies behind Koumei as well as in front.
It doesn’t take a genius to see that what you need to double down on with Koumei is ability duration, energy levels, and elemental damage. I’d personally use as many Mods as possible that upgraded Koumei’s elemental damage so I’ve got one for every element. These could then be upgraded so she’s as powerful as possible with every ability.
However, it’s important not to neglect energy regeneration, so Mods that will give her free energy for kills or something you’ll be doing anyway will help ensure you’ve always got the energy to use her abilities.
Finally, anything that’ll enhance an abillity’s duration or range, like Stretch, is a great shout. Koumei is built to have her abilities spammed at enemies so you can watch as elemental damage sucks the life out of whatever you’re fighting.
Great Mods for Higasa
Higasa is Koumei’s weapon of choice, but it’s definitely lacking in accuracy, firing speed, and magazine departments. Mods that upgrade these are essential. Koumei’s abilities have the elemental damage side of things handled, so focus on the basics here.
Great Mods for Amanata
If you’re using Koumei, you have to equip her signature melee weapon Amanata. It looks amazing but it’s slow. Mods that can enhance its range or speed are what you should look for, but you can also just gear the weapon to your needs as a player. Try to cater to your play style so you’re going to feel a benefit even when you’re not using it.
Best Fashionframe Ideas for Koumei in Warframe
Koumei is built for the fashionframe community in Warframe. At the time of writing, she’s only just dropped in-game, so there aren’t too many fashion ideas for her out there.
The one pictured above is a stunning effort from Reddit user Cephalon_Jaydee. But we also have the bubblegum variant from Twitter user KyriaTheMystic below.
I’ll include a few other inspirational fashionframes here once they pop up in the community.
Why Should You Roll Koumei’s Dice in Warframe?

The only thing you get from rolling Koumei’s Dice at Koumei’s Shrine is lore. I tried to look for some gameplay implications but there aren’t any.
However, if you’re playing as Koumei and use her abilities to roll dice and see a potential future, then you could gain a brief gameplay benefit from rolling those dice in combat. These are completely different from the dice you roll at Koumei’s Shrine.
All Koumei’s Dice Roll Dialogue in Warframe

At Koumei’s Shrine in Cetus, you can roll Koumei’s dice and hear snippets of dialogue and lore from Saya. These link the new Warframe with the wider story and are well worth listening to, but you’ve got to sit there and roll dice for a while to do so. I’ve been through every dice roll possible (trust me, it took me over an hour) and have listed them all below. Check them out, they’re pretty interesting.
- Two of a Kind (1/6): Aah, the twin kavats. Notice that they are elegant even as they are poised to strike. Never mistake a gentle disposition for weakness.
- Two of a Kind (2/6): Flenser’s toil. A frightening title perhaps. But it is a reassurance. Know that your current struggle is a gift to your future self.
- Two of a Kind (3/6): The nesting Condrocs. Like the Mermu and Permu with their young, a protector must embrace both ferocity and compassion.
- Two of a Kind (4/6): Dual summits. One summit is furious that the other objects to the sunrise, oblivious to how it obstructs the sunset. Remember that passing judgment does not make you benevolent.
- Two of a Kind (5/6): Krahm, Eidolon’s jaws. We may not know the time of death, but death itself is certain. It is only when we accept this that we truly live.
- Two of a Kind (6/6): The widow’s eyes. Free yourself from the delusion that you can guard against life’s pain. Allow yourself to mourn.
- Three of a Kind (1/6): The blooming flower. The resolution. An invitation to recognize that which is already yours. Desire too often diverts our attention.
- Three of a Kind (2/6): It is clear you face an obstacle Tenno, for you have rolled the fates. A warning. Act, and fate will smile upon you. Fail to act, and fate will fall upon you.
- Three of a Kind (3/6): The shadow’s trinity guides you to unsung music. Listen well, our deepest connections are made in silence.
- Three of a Kind (4/6): The dirunal triad. Sol, Lua, and Self. Remember the night, even as you perform for the day. We often sense Sol’s gaze upon us. Yet it is Lua that cradles our secrets.
- Three of a Kind (5/6): Aah, the virtues! A reminder. Strong individuals are easily recognized, for they can be seen empowering others.
- Three of a Kind (6/6): Taunts of homunculus. Tension arises when you mold yourself into the image of who you think you should be. Observe yourself of moments of relaxation, for that is who you truly are.
- Four of a Kind (1/6): The dry sticks of winter. Terrible for eating, but superb for a fire.
- Four of a Kind (2/6): The seed of the rambleblossom, cartwheeling on the wind. Expect fertility from an unexpected direction.
- Four of a Kind (3/6): The daisy-meadow. The peace over which many a battle is fought.
- Four of a Kind (4/6): The legs of the ponda. Plow your fields with patience, and do not start at every sound.
- Four of a Kind (5/6): Mer-Sah’s hoard. It twinkles from the deep, but only a fool dives after what ought to be lost.
- Four of a Kind (6/6): The old men’s knees. You must know when a thing is ready to rest.
- Five of a Kind: Clamant tide. You resist the waters of destiny, and so its waves toss you about. Dive into the waves, surah. Let the tide ebb and flow around you.
- The Cookpot: Two Pairs – The cookpot! It is good to master your fate but practice patience. Mind the heat. Boil too long, and you will evaporate.
- Reroll: No lore here, you just reroll the dice.
- The Temple: Zhwong and sahd. The temple speaks of the pursuit of knowledge. You must forgive yourself for not knowing what could not have been known before.
- Koumei’s Ascension: Koumei’s ascension rejoice! This is a time of opportunity. Even great hardships diminish when we are receptive and attentive.
- The Stairway to Perdition: Ai yo. My poor liebrak. You descend the stairway to perdition. Remember, you walked these steps on your own. Only you can turn around and ascend them.
Developer Digital Extremes hadn’t put new content into the game that could be played by anyone other than players who had hit the end of the story for a long time before this update, so it was certainly refreshing and enjoyable to see as someone who wasn’t at that point when it dropped in October 2024.
I hope to see more updates like this in the future for Warframe. Of course, bit story expansions that come at the end of the current content like Warframe: 1999 are great and must continue to be the focal point. But giving players who aren’t at that point something new outside of just a Warframe makes us feel like more of a part of the community, and I massively appreciate that.
