Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution: Phantasmal Flames Guide – Release Date, Card List & Rare Cards

The next installation of the Pokémon TCG has been announced, with a second Mega-focused expansion set to debut this November. Mega Evolution: Phantasmal Flames will feature Mega Charizard ex and Mega Gengar ex, as well as a slew of other powerful Pokémon, as the TCG steps into a new chapter.

The Mega onslaught has been spearheaded by the upcoming release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in October, which brings fans of the franchise back to Kalos. While this nostalgic throwback might be a surprising shift from the Tera Pokémon of Scarlet & Violet, the power Megas will bring to the TCG is a refreshing shake-up for tabletop players.

Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution: Phantasmal Flames Release Date

As stated by the official Pokémon website, the release date for Phantasmal Flames will be November 14, 2025. The set will be available online and at local retail stores and card shops.

Pokémon TCG Phantasmal Flames Card List & Details

The card list for Phantasmal Flames will be over 120 cards in total. This is a fairly small list compared to other sets that have debuted throughout 2025.

Included in this set are the following cards:

• Six Mega ex cards
• Four standard ex cards
• 13 Illustration Rare cards
• 17 Ultra Rare cards
• Five Special Illustration Rare cards

These special cards will include Mega ex and Supporter cards.

Will Phantasmal Flames Be Hard To Buy

Unfortunately, the Phantasmal Flames is going to be a challenge for players to get a hold of. Thanks to the inclusion of Charizard, who will likely be one of the Special Illustration Rare cards due to its importance within the set, collectors are going to be chasing this expansion, and it will be difficult to pre-order and purchase on release day.

The set highlights Mega Charizard ex, Mega Gengar ex, Mega Lopunny ex, and Mega Heracross ex. Charizard and Gengar hold top slots in the most popular and sought-after Pokémon to collect, making this a highly desirable set, especially for fans of Kanto.

Is The Pokémon TCG Phantasmal Flames Expansion Available For Pre-Order?

At this time, Phantasmal Flames has not yet opened for pre-order on the official Pokémon Center store. It is also not available at reputable retailers, and likely won’t be until sometime in October.

While Phantasmal Flames is still a few months away, players can begin prepping their Mega wishlists with the Mega Evolution expansion set to release during September. It’s not yet known how these cards will impact the direction of the TCG, but it is sure to shake things up in the coming months.
