The Halloween season is officially upon us, and it marks one of my favorite reading months of the year. I love to curl up under a blanket with nothing but witchy reads all October long, and this year will be no different. But book release-wise, most of those spooky season reads have already hit shelves by the time October rolls around. So, this month always feels like a bit of a transition period when it comes to new book releases.
After the truly stacked lineup for September, this month feels a little bit slower in my personal wheelhouse of anticipated releases. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of amazing books making their debut in October. So, if you’re looking for something new to pick up, here are our most anticipated new book releases for October 2025!
Table of contents
The Finest Edge of Twilight: Dungeons & Dragons by R.A. Salvatore

- Release Date: October 7th
- Price: $30.00 on Amazon
- Publisher: Random House Worlds
- ARC Received: Yes
I love a good Dungeons & Dragons tie-in novel, and this one is the start of a new series from R.A. Salvatore. In The Finest Edge of Twilight, we meet Breezy Do’Urden, daughter of two legendary heroes who still see her as their little girl. She’s determined to prove she’s more than just her parents’ daughter, so she takes on the tough challenge of becoming a Master of Dragons.
Meanwhile, Dahlia Sin’felle works to claim power via the best path she sees – vampirism. But she has a connection with Breezy’s family, one which just might complicate her path. Both women struggle to find their place in the world through different, but equally difficult, means, and I am very much ready to join them for the journey.
The Keeper of Magical Things by Julie Leong

- Release Date: October 14th
- Price: $19.00 on Amazon
- Publisher: Ace
- ARC Received: Yes
I continue to flirt with my cozy fantasy reading era, and Julie Leong’s books perfectly capture that vibe on every level. In Keeper of Magical Things, we follow Certainty Bulrush, who has only a dash of magic compared to the Guild of Mages that raised her. To finally claim her place as a mage, she takes on an assignment that sees her transporting magical artifacts. The catch? She has to do it with the attractive but aloof Mage Aurelia.
Once they arrive in Shpelling, the two must fix up an old warehouse to keep those magical artifacts safely stored away. But what they find in this nonmagical village just might change their perspective on everything – including each other.
The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow

- Release Date: October 28th
- Price: $29.99 on Amazon
- Publisher: Tor Books
- ARC Received: No
I will read anything Alix E. Harrow writes, and I was thrilled to see that we’ve got a lady knight story this time around. The Everlasting follows Sir Una Everlasting and modern-day scholar Owen Mallory. He has always loved Una’ story, but when he gets sent back in time to make sure she plays her heart in history, he gets tangled up in it.
Owen and Una are stuck telling the same story time and time again, but if they want to tell a different story, they’ll need to find a way to rewrite history. If I know Harrow, this tale is going to take us unexpected places, and I am looking forward to the journey.
Witches of Dubious Origin by Jenn McKinley

- Release Date: October 28th
- Price: $19.00 on Amazon
- Publisher: Ace
- ARC Received: Yes
Yes, I managed to sneak in at least one witchy book for the month of October. And what a book it looks to be! Witches of Dubious Origin follows a librarian who suddenly discovers that she’s actually descended from a long line of powerful witches. Suddenly, she’s contending with all manner of magical things that disrupt her quiet life.
As Zoe confronts her family’s legacy, she winds up working alongside Jasper Griffin from the Books of Dubious Origin department. Together, they’ll work to solve the mystery of her past and decide how to face her destiny.
