Since Graveyard Keeper 2 came out, I have fallen deep into the Keeper life. Those pixel art bodies don’t bury themselves, after all. But while I am mostly loving the grind of the game, one thing has been driving me bonkers: trying to remember where all my crafting machines live. Certain tech can only be placed in specific areas, which means you need to travel to your Writing Basement or head over to the Alchemy Tower to replenish certain craftables. The problem? Recipes tell you which tech station you need to craft them, but not where that station is.
Worry not, though. I’m here to help us all out by listing out every tech crafting station that can be placed in each location. That way, you have an easy reference next time you need to find the Study Table or the Writing Desk in Graveyard Keeper 2. Because don’t we all need a little help keeping track of where to go to craft each essential item?

How to Place Unlocked Tech / Crafting Stations in Graveyard Keeper 2

Any area where you can place tech will have a blueprint hanging on the wall. Interact with this blueprint for a list of all unlocked tech that can be placed in this location. From here, you can craft and place each building station. Keep in mind you will need specific materials to create each station. You will also need to advance in the relevant Tech Tree to unlock more tech recipes. So, if you’re not seeing a specific station in the build list, you may need to unlock it first.
Most locations have a few staple pieces of tech you can place, including a simple wooden chest and a firewood station. From there, though, available tech is largely tailored to the purpose of each area. Generally, the Yard will be for building and metalworking, whereas the Writing Basement is for papers and such. Meanwhile, you’ll do alchemy and study items in the Alchemy Lab and do all manner of unspeakable things to the dearly departed in the Morgue. Even so, it can be hard to remember which tech goes where. So, I’m breaking it down by area to help you find the tech you need, when you need it.
All Tech in the Alchemy Lab

Once you meet the Plague Doctor, he’ll task you with helping gain entry to the Alchemy Lab (the tower behind your house). Here, you’ll learn to study the items you’ve gathered to uncover their properties. But this area is more versatile than you might think, as it’s also home to many experiments with Alchemy. Personally, I have the most trouble remembering what goes here, because some of the crafting stations aren’t as natural a fit for Alchemy as you might expect.
Here is the full list of tech you can build in the Alchemy Lab, as well as what you’ll need to place each tech station for the first time. That way, you don’t have to run back and forth checking that blueprint to remember what you need!
In addition to the location-specific tech, you can (and should) place the Firewood Shed, a Storage Box, and a Zombie Supplier Station in the Alchemy Lab. This will give you fuel and quick access to the supplies you need. Helpful ingredients to keep in your Alchemy Lab chest include:
- Beeswax
- Clay Plates
- Clay Urn
- Fat
- Flax Thread
- Paper
- Rhododendron
These items will help you quickly produce the melted fat, incense, and more that you will often need to keep your operation running. You’ll also want to keep the Firewood Shed well stocked with Firewood.
All Tech in the Barracks

The Barracks host your helpful legions of hired hands, ready to fight back the undead. This area is a bit unique, in that many of the items you place here will be one-time use only. It’s here that you’ll stock up on barricades and the like before you head into battle against the encroaching undead armies. As such, you’ll be building these tech stations multiple times, and if your memory is as good as mine, it may be hard to keep the right materials on hand. That’s where our breakdown comes in.
Since you need to build these defenses before each round of battle, it’s helpful to keep the basic materials in the storage chest nearby. I suggest stocking the Barracks with:
- Reinforced Planks
- Short Logs
- Bronze Nails
That way, you can quickly build up barricades without running back and forth to the Inquisition Base.
All Tech in the Church

If you want to generate Faith to study complex items or unlock your Inspiration perks, you’ll need to put some time and energy into the church. Here, you can lead a prayer once a week to gain Faith. Most of the tech stations you craft here will add to the Church’s overall quality rating, rather than letting you craft specific items.
To help keep up with tech needs and weekly prayer, these items are helpful to have on hand in the Church Storage Chest:
- Written Prayers to choose from (crafted at the Writing Desk)
- Candles
All Tech at Home

Your home is, primarily, where you’ll rest. However, it’s also where the Kitchen is located. So, any cooking-related tech is typically built here. You’ll begin by repairing the Kitchen Table and Kitchen Oven already located there. But eventually, you’ll be able to add additional, improved tech to make life even easier.
All Tech in the Morgue

Of course, the Morgue is primarily where you’ll work with the dead as you prepare to lay them to rest. As such, you’ve got your Autopsy Table and Crematorium here. Here’s the Tech that lives with the dead in Graveyard Keeper 2.
Unlike many areas, the Morgue doesn’t come with a built-in storage chest by default. That’s largely because most of your early-game activities will involve extracting items, not crafting them. However, you can build a Chest here if you find you need someplace to store things while working with the dearly departed.
All Tech in the Writing Basement

Once you progress far enough in the Plague Doctor storyline, you’ll unlock the hatch to your very own basement. The game dubs this area the Writing Basement, and for good reason. It’s where you’ll be able to craft writing supplies like parchment, paper, and ink. Here’s the tech you’ll find in the Writing Basement:
Because you’ll draft prayers and craft paper and writing materials here, it’s helpful to store some of the following in the Simple Chest or Chest here:
- Ash
- Melted Fat
- Skin
- Stories
- Water
All Tech in the Yard

The Yard is where you’ll get to work with building and metalwork. Items like the Sawhorse and Woodworking table live here, as do your basic metalworking supplies. As such, it’s got one of the longest lists of possible tech items. Here’s everything you’ll find in the Yard, and what materials you’ll need to build each new tech station.
This area has so much tech, the menu for building is divided up between general items, woodworking, metal working, and sewing/thread. If you can’t find the tech you’re looking for, try paging between these unique menus to locate the recipe. I’ve also noted which menu each recipe falls under in the table below.
Personally, I treat the Yard like my “catch-all” home base for materials. But in particular, it’s helpful to store the following in the Storage Chests here:
- Copper Nugget
- Clay
- Sand
- Bronze Ore
- Iron Ore
- Sticks
