Pacific Drive is getting a glow-up later in 2025 with Whispers in the Woods, a horror-flavored expansion full of cult fanatics and fresh anomalies.
The original game hit in February 2024 and immediately stood out. You weren’t some hero with a gun; you were the driver of a clunky station wagon trying to survive the Olympic Exclusion Zone.
It was all busted headlights, duct-tape repairs, and roads that wanted you dead. By February 2025, the game had crossed a million copies sold. Not bad for a debut.
Whispers in the Woods is Pacific Drive’s First Major Expansion
Whispers in the Woods is the first big expansion, and Ironwood isn’t being coy about it.
The PlayStation Blog dropped the announcement, and the trailer showed exactly what you’d expect when you give the Zone even more personality: cults in creepy masks, artifacts that mess with your car in hilarious ways, and forests that look like they belong in a found-footage movie.
Lead Designer Richard Weschler explained that Artifacts will force players “to constantly adapt and change your strategy on the fly.” Examples range from your car horn honking every time you jump to chain reactions that escalate in unpredictable ways.
The DLC lands on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) in late 2025. You can expect 8–12 hours of content, new garage stations, extra route modifiers, cosmetics, and a score by Wilbert Roget II. Basically, more ways for your poor wagon to break down.
Pacific Drive found its audience by making the car your only real friend in a place that hated you. Whispers in the Woods looks ready to double down, pulling in horror fans, survival masochists, and anyone who thinks a road trip gets better once cultists show up.
