Samael has run The Broken Lamp, the only bar in Moonlight Peaks, for centuries, which tells you most of what you need to know about how tired he is of cleaning up other people’s messes.
Samael is a big fan of fine wine, sushi, and Diamonds. He respects people who show genuine interest instead of just passing through, and keeps his distance from anyone who treats his bar, or him, as just another stop for the night.
You might be tempted to think he’s all brooding and bar-owner distance, but Samael is genuinely looking for someone worth dropping the act for. In this guide, we’ll break down all of Samael’s gift preferences, his heart events, and the best answers for each encounter.

All Heart Events For Samael in Moonlight Peaks
Samael’s almost always behind the bar at The Broken Lamp. Below are Samael’s heart events and the conversations you can have with him. We have bolded the best answers for each interaction during events.
One-Heart Event
The Cool Breeze
To start Samael’s first heart event, find him at The Broken Lamp any time after reaching your first heart with him. You’ll catch his nightly routine in progress: Orlock makes a drunken scene, Samael tosses him out, life goes on.
Dialogue Choices:
- Comment on the scene you just watched,
- “You seem used to this.” (“Yeah. You stop being surprised after the first hundred times. He’s loud, but predictable. And someone’s got to keep an eye on him.”)
- “Does this happen often?” (same weary routine follows either way.)
- Name the actual pattern,
- “You always clean up his messes?” (“Most nights. He makes a scene; I sweep up. It’s a routine. One of us has to have one.”)
- “Maybe I came for you.” (“Is that so? How sweet.”)
Two-Heart Event
Lost in the Forest
Samael is genuinely rattled when his sister Elvira goes missing for three days, and you end up combing the forest with him to track her down. She turns up perfectly fine, just off writing poetry somewhere quiet, and gets Samael to admit that as annoyed as he is, he’ll never stop looking every time she vanishes.
Dialogue Choices:
- Show up for the search itself,
- “Actually, I’ll help you look.” (“Thanks. Nice to know I’m not the only one taking this seriously.”)
- “I get it. I’d be worried too. Let’s find her.” (same relief follows either way.)
Three-Heart Event
Bottom of the Bottle
Another Orlock bender, another night of Samael getting ribbed for going “buttoned up” since giving up his own wilder days. He brushes it off with his usual deadpan, but there’s a real dig underneath the joke about who he used to be. Orlock eventually passes out mid-sentence.
Dialogue Choices:
- Once Orlock’s out cold, respond,
- “I’ll pass. But I’ll stay for the show.” (“That’s {Orlock}. Always the last act of his own play. You can stick around if you want. I don’t mind the company. Especially if it’s yours.”)
- “Guess he’s out cold.” (same invitation to stay follows either way.)
Four-Heart Event
Gardening Together
Samael’s tending the family vineyard, something Orlock’s long since stopped paying attention to, and admits he finds it genuinely therapeutic, watching something grow after centuries of, well, not much growing.
Dialogue Choices:
- Point out the contradiction,
- “You’re more of a softie than you let on.” (“Shhh. You’ll ruin my reputation. It’s simple work. Honest. Helps me keep my head on straight.”)
- “I didn’t take you for the gardening type.” (same admission follows either way.)
Five-Heart Event
Wonderful Wine Wonderings
Samael sorts through old bottles from his last year as a human, admitting he’d told himself for years it was about the wine’s rarity when really he was just holding onto the memories. It leads into him telling you plainly that you’re the light he’s found in centuries of darkness.
Dialogue Choices:
- When he says you’re what actually matters now,
- “And you’re mine. In all of this, I want only you.” (“You don’t know what that means to me. To be seen… and still chosen.”)
- “Then I’ll stay, as long as you’ll have me.” (“I won’t let you go. Not now. Not ever.”)
Six-Heart Event
Stilla Amoris
Samael reveals a wine he’s been quietly perfecting just for you, named Stilla Amoris, “a drop of love” in the old dialect, and pairs it with a simple home-cooked meal, your choice of cheese platter or spicy soup, purely personal preference, no wrong answer.
Dialogue Choices:
- Once you’ve eaten and he raises a toast, respond,
- “This… is exactly where I want to be.” (“Then stay. For as long as you’ll have me. I never thought I’d have something like this again. I’ve spent so long with walls around my heart, but you make me want to do more than merely exist. You make me want to live.”)
- “To every tomorrow, with you.” (same admission follows either way.)
After reaching Heart Level three in Moonlight Peaks, you will be able to hug Samael, and starting from Heart Level Four, you can ask him out on dates, which also enables kissing. It is possible to lose hearts by doing badly on dates or giving hated presents. However, if you don’t give him a Coin, you should be headed in the right direction.
How to get married in Moonlight Peaks
Once you hit eight hearts with someone, a proposal option shows up at the end of a date.
If the other person says yes, you’ll be able to set the wedding date on the spot, which then logs itself on your calendar. You can swing by Third Eye Threads the next day for white wedding attire if you want to dress up, though the game won’t force you into it.
On the day itself, the ceremony kicks off the moment you wake up.
Marrying locks you into monogamy. Anyone else you were dating drops to a heartbroken “hurt” status capped at four hearts, and your new spouse gets two more hearts to earn with you.
How to break up in Moonlight Peaks
To break up or get a divorce, you’ll need to speak to Llemi.
When you’re ready, head to his place in the Pink Grove (you’ll need Luna Bay unlocked first) and tell him you want out. Sleep through the night and your ex is back to being a regular friend by morning.
If you’re hoping to remarry after, budget the time: you’re starting that climb back to eight hearts from scratch.
Still here? Good.
