What would gaming be without some great accessories or bits of tech to use and enjoy? OR what about a good tablet to make your creative project a smoother, more rewarding experience?
Well, here at BA, we have had a few highlights when it comes to tech this year, so we decided to put together out list for the best bits of tech of 2024, and why we loved them.
Table of contents
Steam Deck – Matt’s Pick

I’m not the techiest person if I’m being honest. I’m very much the kind of person who just wants to turn something on and it work, does the thing I want, and I can use it with little to no friction whatsoever. For me, that has been my Steam Deck.
I do not play it all the time, but in those moments when I’m out and about, or need a moment away from a gathering or family event, or, I just can’t take a tower PC with me, I know I can load up most of my games on a handheld is both comfortable, easy to use, and looks great. And the games run on it very well, which is the main thing.
It is easily the piece of tech I have been the most grateful for having this year and it was a worthwhile purchase in every aspect. That’s why the Steam Deck is my top pick for 2024.
Logitech Lift Ergonomic Mouse – Cande’s Pick

My favorite piece of tech this year is, ironically, one I didn’t use at all: my beloved Logitech Lift Vertical Mouse.
After a year tethered to a wired mouse, my hand practically aches for the ergonomic bliss of the Lift. Its vertical design kept my wrist in a natural, handshake-like position, sparing me the clawed misery of traditional mice. And let’s not forget that perfectly placed thumb button—browsing the web without the tedious task of manually clicking “back” in the browser felt like wielding a productivity cheat code. Those saved milliseconds added up. I was never more efficient than when we were together.
You earned your stripes the day I decided to work on the balcony. My elbow nudged you off the table, sending you plummeting three floors to the ground below. I sprinted down the stairs in a panic, only to find you waiting for me—slightly scuffed but miraculously functional. Your resilience is the stuff of legend.
Sadly, we had to part ways. My shiny new gaming PC doesn’t support wireless peripherals, and I had no choice but to move on. But you’ll always hold a special place in my tech arsenal—and my heart. Here’s to the day I finally upgrade that rig and we can reunite.
XPPen Artist Pro 24 (Gen 2) 2024 – Laura’s Pick

While it’s not a piece of gaming tech, my technology pick of the year, hands down, is the XPPen Artist Pro 24 (Gen 2) 2024. The 165Hz model has encouraged me to get back into drawing after losing steam during the pandemic, and it has taught me that I can enjoy digital art – something that Wacom was never truly able to do.
I have been an artist my entire life, and have worked hard to tackle big illustration projects, art challenges, and new mediums, and XPPen has reignited that passion.
I am also beyond excited about their goals of bringing high-quality digital drawing tablets to artists at an affordable price. As someone who grew up in poverty, and then struggled financially for many years of my art career, drawing tablets were never an achievable option. XPPen is the developer I needed then, and I will do everything I can to spread the word about their amazing products now.
Ifi Go Link Headphone Amp – John’s Pick

The Ifi Go Link Headphone Amp has completely changed my life. It’s silly that it took me so long to even realize these things exist, because I’m a bit audiophile at heart. I have all manner of headphones, each with their own uses and merits, but this device is transformative.
In simple terms, it makes your headphones sound better. A lot better. My music studio quality Sony headphones take me from listening to a track to hearing its recording in the studio with the artist. The difference is phenomenal.
This tiny package won’t break the bank but it’ll sound like you have with whatever headphones you plug it into. One last beautiful element of it is that you get both a USB and iPhone connector in the box, so you can use it everywhere or pick up an adapter to ensure it works with the devices you need high quality audio on. Which is all of them.
