Digital Sun is back, and Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is set to crank the adventure up to 11.
Get it? Because… it’s published by 11 Bit Studios. Sorry, game nerd joke.
Will is once again on a mission, but this time, the game’s going bigger, bolder, and brighter. The original Moonlighter blended shopkeeping with dungeon crawling, but the sequel is pushing that formula to new extremes.
With 3D visuals, fresh biomes, and an amped-up roguelike experience, The Endless Vault promises more loot, more perks, and even more ways to die trying.
In a Steam publication, Digital Sun gave players the scoop on what makes this sequel a leap forward.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault isn’t just “more of the same”
If you’re expecting more of the same, prepare to be “pleasantly surprised”. According to the dev team, the sequel retains the charming core of its predecessor while evolving almost every system.
Dungeons now come with run-specific upgrades, making each foray feel fresh. Meanwhile, the shopkeeping has been expanded with new perks and unique customization options, influencing both combat and sales.
As for inventory management, relics now interact in biome-specific ways, adding another layer of strategy.
The story picks up after the events of the first game, where Will loses his home dimension. Stranded in the blob-infested land of Tresna, he discovers the Endless Vault, an ancient relic brimming with untold treasures. Of course, he’ll need to battle his way through challenging dungeons to unlock its secrets – and maybe find a way back home.
The balance between dungeon crawling and shopkeeping remains, but with a twist. Shop mechanics now include dynamic changes between runs, amplifying their strategic depth.
As for the biomes, expect to explore everything from a harsh desert dimension to an eerie museum and a time-frozen battlefield.
With 3D visuals and Christopher Larkin (Hollow Knight’s composer) on the soundtrack, Moonlighter 2 will look and sound like a stunning upgrade. Digital Sun isn’t just counting on fan nostalgia – this sequel is determined to outshine the original.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault launches in 2025, so gear up for an epic return to the dungeons.
