When people think of cozy games, farming sims are often the first example to come to mind. After all, games like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley are indeed super relaxing. But not all cozy games are about farming, and if my history of recipe guides is any indication, I’m a cooking sim kinda gamer. That’s why I’m joining my fellow cooking game enthusiasts to celebrate the recent news that Kokoro Kitchen finally has a release date.
This cooking sim features cute little customers that look like ghostly versions of Shy Guy. Players customize their avatar, then set to work prepping all manner of recipes for their adorable clientele. The game recently released a brand-new demo to let players check out the latest improvements. And now, Kokoro Kitchen has finally set an official release date, with less than a month to wait.
Kokoro Kitchen Invites Players to Open Shop This October
On September 19th, the official Mango Leaf Games account on Bluesky revealed that Kokoro Kitchen will release on October 17th. That’s less than a month before we’ll be serving up Japanese-inspired dishes in the spirit world.
Along with the release date announcement, Mango Leaf Games shared an adorable release date trailer for Kokoro Kitchen. The graphics are giving Lemon Cake, but with Japanese spirit world vibes. As a Lemon Cake enthusiast, I am here for it.
This cooking management sim features 42 recipes, 9 different crops for the kitchen garden, 5 unique mini-games, and plenty of NPCs to meet along the way. The new, lengthier demo lets players check out the first 5 in-game days, so you can give it a try early and for free via Steam. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to unlocking all those recipes once I dive into this one.

Kokoro Kitchen will release on October 17th via Steam and is available to Wishlist now. That said, the devs did note that if anything unexpected pops up, the game could wind up being pushed back. Here’s hoping we’ll be stepping into the kitchen as planned, because this one has been on my wishlist for a while.
