About a month ago, Discounty fans on PC got to step into a brand-new expansion for the shopkeeping sim. However, the console version needed a little more time in the shop. Originally, Crinkle Cut hoped to ship the People or Profit DLC for consoles in July. But alas, those of us playing the game on console have ended up having to wait just a bit longer for the new content. Today, we finally got an update on the DLC release for consoles. And the good news is, it’s already almost here!
The Discounty: People or Profit update will finally arrive on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox this Thursday, August 6th. Like the PC version, the update will be a free expansion that adds more to do in the town of Blomkest. For my fellow console gamers eagerly waiting for an excuse to dive back in, the time is almost at hand at last.
Discounty‘s Free People or Profit Expansion is Headed to Consoles This Week
In case you’ve been waiting for the console version like me, here’s a quick refresher on what the People or Profit? update adds to Discounty. First and foremost, the expansion adds a brand-new final chapter to the game, extending the main story. There are also three new endings to go along with that added content. If you felt like Blomkest had more of a story to tell, you’re right. And on August 6th, console gamers will be able to get another installment in the tale.
Along with new story content, players will meet new characters who have arrived in Blomkest eager to start new businesses. You’ll also be able to help restore the town, reopen its mysterious museum, finally find out what lurks in the shed near your house, and more. You’ll also get to invent new gadgets to make life at Discounty even easier, buy a house to move out of Aunt Tellar’s trailer, and experience other surprises along the way.
Finally, shop gameplay gets a revamp with the People or Profit expansion. New in-game events will make each day feel a bit different from the last. You’ll also be able to add new items to your shop, with a more diverse stock to (hopefully) keep your customers happy.
All of this arrives in a free update to the base game, which is headed to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox on August 6th. Since the Bonus Action team played the game on console, this also means we’ll be bringing you an update to our walkthrough with all the new details for the DLC soon after it drops. So, stay tuned as we all head back to Blomkest to unravel more of its mysteries.
