Ubisoft is finally showing off the long-rumored Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake with a special livestream later this week. The original Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag was released back in 2013 and told the tale of Edward Kenway, a Welsh pirate in the 1720s who finds himself drawn into the centuries-long conflict between the Assassins and the Templar Order. It also added an expansive sailing mechanic to Assassin’s Creed’s usual open-world gameplay to much praise.
Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is still regarded as one of the best entries in the long-running series and spawned multiple sequels and media tie-ins that expanded on Edward and his legacy. Rumors of a remake have been circulating for years, fueled by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot’s statements in 2024 about multiple Assassin’s Creed games being recreated for modern systems. Earlier this year, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed 4 is indeed getting a remake, titled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced Will Be Shown On April 23
Details about Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced are scarce at the moment, but luckily, fans won’t have to wait too much longer for more information. Earlier this week, Ubisoft announced that it will hold a worldwide reveal showcase for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced on Thursday, April 23 at 4:00 PM Universal Time, 6:00 PM Eastern, and 9:00 AM Pacific.
Included in the Twitter announcement post is a short video teaser for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, which even pokes fun at the many rumors surrounding the title by calling it “Gaming’s Worst Kept Secret.” There is no word yet on what exactly will be revealed at the upcoming livestream, but hopefully, a release date will be featured. Currently, rumor has it that Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced will launch on July 9, 2026, but fans should take this with a grain of salt for now.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is just one of the many Assassin’s Creed projects Ubisoft has in the works. Assassin’s Creed Jade is being developed for Android and iOS devices and will allow players to create their own custom character and explore ancient China during the Qin dynasty in the third century BC. Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe is said to be the next mainline title after 2025’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, supposedly taking place in Central Europe during the 16th century at the peak of the Holy Roman Empire.
