Earlier this year, PlayStation and Santa Monica Studios surprised God of War fans with the announcement of God of War Laufey, a spin-off set during the events of the two most recent mainline entries and centered around Laufey, Kratos’s second wife and Atreus’s mother. Faye died prior to the 2018 God of War relaunch and appeared in flashbacks during 2022’s God of War Ragnarok. She was also described in great detail by many characters in both those games, and now fans will finally get to follow her as she makes her way through the afterlife of Gods known as Everywhen.
Faye’s mission is to ensure that her son and husband carry out their roles in the ancient prophecy that served as the backdrop to God of War Ragnarok, and this adventure will bring her into contact with deities from other mythologies in addition to the Greek and Norse lore that past God of War games explored. Players will need to wait until February 16 to dive into this new epic, but pre-orders for God of War Laufey will go live on September 29.
This was announced in a recent post on PlayStation.blog, which listed all of the special pre-order editions that fans will have to choose from should they purchase God of War Laufey ahead of time. Sony is offering two different pre-order packages, each with their own cosmetic bonuses and other perks that will make Faye’s trek through the Everywhen all the more epic. It should be pointed out that the special armors and weapons won’t be available at the start of the game, but rather unlocked as players advance through the story.
God of War Laufey Pre-Order Bonuses
First off is God of War Laufey‘s standard pre-order package, which will be available for everyone who orders the game ahead of its February 16 launch date. It includes the player’s choice between the physical and digital versions of God of War Laufey, as well as the Last Wish Armor set – a stone outfit adorned with glowing blue symbols befitting a warrior who made her home amid the snowy peaks of Midgard.
Faye’s cube companion Phranque (pronounced “Frank”) also gets in on the fun with the Golden Leaves Appearance, which gives him a glowing gold core. There is also an “In-Game Resource Pack,” but there is currently no word on what it contains.
God of War Laufey – Digital Deluxe Edition
Players who are willing to pay a little extra will get access to God of War Laufey‘s Digital Deluxe Edition, and with it the Dark Alchemy cosmetics. This amethyst-colored ensemble includes the Dark Alchemy Armor, Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, and Dark Alchemy Catalyst – all of which give Faye and her weapons a striking new look. The In-Game Resource pack is also included here, along with a Digital Mini Artbook and the official God of War Laufey soundtrack composed by the legendary Bear McCreary, who has already lent his talents to all of the previous games since 2018’s God of War.
These pre-order God of War Laufey bonuses will go live on September 29 at 10:00 AM local time.
