With the solstice out of the way, it’s officially summer. And that means Amazon is once again hosting its Prime Day sales event, which is now basically an entire week of deals. Prime Day encompasses pretty much everything you can find on Amazon, from home goods to self-care products and beyond. But for the book lovers, it’s all about those Prime Day book deals. I’ll be honest, though. I’m often disappointed with the deals on offer for Prime Day, where books are concerned. After all, books are always pretty cheap on Amazon. But this year, one of my favorite romance publishers is going hard on Prime Day discounts
When I was doing my usual poke through to see what book deals might be worth covering, I kept coming across some of my favorite romance reads. That’s when I realized… It’s because Berkley deals are hitting hard this Prime Day in the best way. From Emily Henry boxed sets to recent Ali Hazelwood goodies, the deals from one of the top contemporary romance publishers are surprisingly good this year. So, as a longtime fan of Berkley, I’m rounding up a few recommendations that you should add to your shelves ASAP.
Two Can Play (Paperback)
Price: $9.46 (normally $15) on Amazon
Given that Bonus Action is all about video games, I couldn’t skip a chance to bring your attention to Ali Hazelwood’s game dev romance. Does that mean this list has two Ali Hazelwood books? Yes, it does. But what can I say, I am who I am, and I am someone who loves a good nerdy Ali Hazelwood read. Anyway… this one is an enemies-to-lovers novella about rival game devs. It’s short, sweet, and a little bit spicy (but not too much).
This paperback typically runs for around $15, but for Prime Day, it’s 37% off. That does make it the lowest discount on my list, but I mean, game developer romance. During the sale, you can grab a paperback of this previous audio exclusive novella for just $9.46. And if you love games and romance novels as much as I do, you’re going to want to read this one.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches (Paperback)
Price: $7.99 (normally $19) on Amazon
When it comes to cozy contemporary romances with a dash of magic, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches is hard to beat. Pretty much anyone who picks this one up winds up falling in love with it. And for good reason. We’ve got witches, secrets, and a mysterious house with just enough chaos. Oh, and did I mention romance? Because it is a Berkley book, after all.
Maybe it’s my age, but I am still routinely shocked at how expensive paperbacks are these days. At full price, this one will run you $19. That used to be hardcover pricing back in my day. But for Prime Day, it’s 58% off, making it a much more reasonable $7.99.
The Love Hypothesis Collector’s Edition
Price: $14.54 (normally $35) on Amazon
I can neither confirm nor deny if I actually gasped when I spotted this deal. The Love Hypothesis was my first Ali Hazelwood read, and it remains my absolute favorite. Now is the perfect time to read (or reread) this one, with the Amazon Prime movie adaptation on the way this September. And this Collector’s Edition with those beautifully STEM-themed sprayed edges? I already have a hardcover copy of this book on my shelf, and I’m still tempted by this deal.
This special edition of The Love Hypothesis isn’t just a shiny new cover and sprayed edges, either. It also includes additional chapter heading doodles and a new chapter from Adam’s POV. Normally, this one would run you $35, but during Prime Day, you can grab it for a whopping 58% discount that makes it less than the price of a paperback. I’m talking just under $15.
Emily Henry Boxed Set featuring Beach Read, People We Meet on Vacation, and Book Lovers
Price: $23.68 (normally $49.00) on Amazon
I am a big Emily Henry fan, and not just because she lives in my hometown. Her books are the perfect blend of slow-burn romance and snappy, witty writing. This boxed set includes her first three adult romance novels, Beach Read, People We Meet on Vacation, and Book Lovers. So if you’ve somehow missed out on Emily Henry until now or need to catch up on her backlog after enjoying a more recent release, now is the moment!
This boxed set is a trio of paperbacks, which are perfect for taking to the beach. Berkley’s paperbacks in particular tend to be delightfully floppy. Normally, this set would run you $49 USD, but during Prime Day, you can grab it at 52% off. That’s three of the best contemporary romance novels out there for just under $24. Yes, please.
