Cozy games filled with decorations, cooking recipes, and cute outfits are probably some of my all-time favorite ways to pass the time. For many years, Animal Crossing filled my quota for island adventures and villager collecting. Despite the hours I’ve sunk into the game, it never quite satisfied my needs. Hello Kitty Island Adventure finally shed light on my struggle, perfecting the ACNH formula and polishing it up to something even better than I could ever have imagined.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure places players on a collection of islands in a beautiful, tropical setting. After a crash landing, it is up to you and the Sanrio team to revitalize the island and restore it to the vacation getaway it originally was meant to be.
The colorful world, thoughtful diversity, enormous map, and countless opportunities for adventure make time in Hello Kitty Island Adventure fly by, driving players forward with the addictive desire to shake loose every secret the world holds.

A World With Few Limits

Hello Kitty Island Adventure doesn’t hold players back. As soon as My Melody has let you loose from the intro tutorial, the secrets of an enormous map are at your disposal.
There is no daily gameplay loop in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. While gift-giving for the locals resets, what players choose to do each day is entirely up to them. From the unique biomes that house iconic Sanrio characters to the beautiful reefs surrounding the land masses, there are secrets hidden everywhere.
Players can locate chests filled with crafting blueprints, solve puzzles in dungeons, cook with Hello Kitty, engage in challenge mini-games, or scale mountains to reach new locations. The only thing that might stand in your way is a low stamina bar or missing tools.
To keep players motivated, there are also quests that can be unlocked by progressing the main story or leveling the NPCs around the island. Quests are specific to each character, and can sometimes be the key to obtaining new tools meant to increase exploration.
As you complete quests, attractions for the islands will unlock, and new areas will become available for you to explore.
Make Your Own Sanrio Persona

Fans of Sanrio have a unique opportunity in Hello Kitty Island Adventure to truly become a part of the beloved cast. A diverse character builder allows them to craft their own critter to interact with Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, and the rest of the island crew.
Players can pick from multiple animal bases and body type builds, as well as select their own color patterns. Additionally, clothing found or crafted can be worn by any character, regardless of the character’s appearance.
This inclusive character creator allows players to truly immerse themselves in the game, while also offering the creative freedom to connect with the playable character.
One of the best elements of this is the lack of gender markers and pronouns. I was so happy to just build my little cat, get them some blue jeans, and jump into the world.
I Could Spend Hours In This World

The thing that makes Hello Kitty Island Adventure particularly special is how easy it is to just get lost in the game. While playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I often felt I was getting on to hit a checklist for the day.
When I pick up Island Adventure, I never know exactly where I am going to end up. I could spend hours finding ingredients to use in cooking or dedicate an afternoon to solving a quest.
The magic of this game is in the variety of ways you can tackle objectives, and how addictive the satisfaction of finishing them becomes.
I want to sit and play for hours, surrounded by the beautiful sea and lush foliage. I want to locate every chest and swim through every stretch of ocean. The need to see it all compels me forward and I am delighted by how rewarding every new adventure manages to be.
Final Score – 9.5/10
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is exactly what cozy gamers need. The game feels like it was native to console, despite originally being released for Apple products in 2024. It is exciting, relaxing, and deeply addictive to play. Anyone looking to scratch that Animal Crossing itch will find exactly what they need and so much more from this adorable game.
This is the perfect option for gamers of all ages but will be a particular treat for fans of the Sanrio universe. Despite this, you don’t need to know anything about Hello Kitty to have a lovely time playing.
If you need a vacation in the palm of your hands, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is the perfect choice, and one that will keep you deeply engrossed for dozens and dozens of hours.
