Lost Records Director Teases Moody, Grunge-Infused Photo Mode

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage just got a whole lot cooler, thanks to a fresh, grunge-infused photo mode.

Fans of the upcoming narrative adventure from Don’tNod have reason to get excited. The game is set in 1995, where four best friends confront a supernatural event and, for 27 years, never speak to each other again. Set in Velvet Cove, Michigan, it’s all about mystery, nostalgia, and gorgeous visuals into a truly immersive experience. So, naturally, a killer photo mode was a must.

The game, which will be released on February 18, 2025, focuses on realistic character design and a highly detailed environment. From Nora’s acne scars to the carefully crafted 90s aesthetic, visuals play a massive role in the storytelling.

With the new photo mode, you can capture every detail, from the supernatural horror of “The Abyss” to those stunning ’90s trinkets.

Earlier this week, Creative Director Michel Kolch teased this new mode on X, showcasing just how customizable and mood-driven it is.

In comparing the two images, we got a glimpse of the stark contrast. The first is the clean, polished in-game look, all vibrant and sharp – straight out of a 90s magazine.

But the second image is drenched in moody, magenta-filtered drama. Grainy textures and zine-style effects that screams punk rock album cover, making it clear this is not your average photo mode. It’s the kind of edgy, over-the-top vibe we absolutely have been craving.

Also, I think I had that pencil case in high school.

With Lost Records: Bloom & Rage releasing soon, this new mode gives fans one more reason to get excited. The game releases in two parts – guess we’ll have to wait to see what happens after the cliffhanger.

Kolch hasn’t just been advertising photo modes, though. In a January interview, he argued in favor of splitting Lost Records into two parts instead of releasing the whole thing for us to binge.
