Developer and publisher HyperVR has today announced that its chaotic, comedic supermarket management game, Shop & Stuff, finally has a release date for PSVR 2. I love this platform, and any excuse to play a slightly unhinged management game is a very welcome one.
The game lands on the latest PlayStation VR headset on March 27, 2026, so you’ve got plenty of time to play Pokémon Pokopia and Marathon before it’s out.
In Shop & Stuff, It’s The Stuff You’ve Got To Worry About
As you can see from the unhinged trailer above, Shop & Stuff is so much more than a supermarket management game. Sure, you’ve got to manage the day-to-day running of the store from the ground up, from stocking shelves and greeting customers to helping at the checkout.
However, you’ll quickly need to step up your game when you expand your offerings and the potential for trouble. Some customers just want to watch the world burn and will attempt to steal your inventory, ask awkward questions, and do unspeakable things to your bathroom.
As someone who works in hospitality, believe me when I tell you that there are some real wierdos out there. People will steal the strangest stuff if you give them half a chance, and the number of crazy conversations I’ve had when asking how someone’s day is going is more than I can count.
Shop & Stuff looks to have a satisfying progression path and gameplay loop that go well together. Your in-game boss will guide you through the things they think you should be doing to maximize profit, but you can also just waste the day away placing baskets on people’s heads as they enter the store. I also quite like the idea of hitting potential shoplifters with a flyswatter and watching them run into a car before flying off over the horizon.
If all this sounds good to you, and you’ve got a PSVR 2, then check it out at the end of the month. Right now, the only good supermarket simulator I can name on the platform is Job Simulator, and even in that, a supermarket is just one part of the much bigger whole. I can barely wait to see what the trophies will entail, and I’m already expecting a fair few linked to getting rid of unwanted guests in inventive ways.
