The hype for cozy MMO Loftia is already high, with a staggering $1.2 million Kickstarter campaign and impressive social media following proving gamers are excited for what the developers have planned. The cozy multiplayer might not have a release date just yet, but that doesn’t mean Qloud Games doesn’t have more to share.
During the Wholesome Snack Showcase, Loftia debuted a brand-new trailer that includes a never-before-seen element of the game – Neighborhoods. Though the trailer provides just a sneak peek at how this will work, it’s already showing that engaging with your friends will be central to how Loftia functions.
Loftia’s Neighborhoods Let You Link Up With Friends
As the trailer highlights, the Neighborhoods element of Loftia will let players link their personal floating islands to other. Rather than simply stopping by another island to visit, players can craft an in-game shared hub where players can hang out, have social events, and more.
Players can use this Neighborhoods feature to link up with friends they already know or connect with the broader community. It really highlights the focus on that massively multiplayer element with this cozy game, which the developers hope will bring back that “nostalgic charm of early online games” that connected people and sparked lifelong friendships.
While many cozy fans enjoyed visiting one another’s islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in a time when real-life visits were impossible, the game doesn’t fully capture a real-time social experience. Loftia‘s Neighborhoods feature looks poised to take what we love about those visits and turn it into something with even more interaction.
This is just one new feature amidst many elements that make players excited to jump into the world of Lofia – myself included! The game features a solarpunk aesthetic and incorproates many beloved cozy gaming elements like farming, crafting, fishing, cooking, and decorating. These solo-grind staples of the cozy genre will combine with the game’s social focus, where players will partake in group activities, clubs, and projects, making for something unique in the cozy space.
Given the popularity of cozy MMO Palia, players are clearly eager to see more ways that we can connect with one another online while enjoying our favorite relaxing gaming mechanics.
Though there’s no specific release date to plug into our planners just yet, Loftia is available to wishlist on Steam.
