Slime Rancher 2 maintains many of the core mechanics and base goals of the first game in the series. Players will harvest slimes from the wild, settle them on the farm, collect plots, and sell those plots for money used to purchase upgrades.

However, to make the most amount of money as quickly as possible, players will need to know a few key tricks and tips, including how to unlock new areas and use critical items and gadgets.

Is Slime Rancher 2 On the Nintendo Switch?

No, at this time there has been no announcement of a Switch port for the game. However, the first game is available via the “Plortable” edition, but it took some time after the 1.0 release for it to become available.

How to Turn Off Tarr in Slime Rancher 2

To turn off Tarr, players will need to start a new world and toggle the Tarr option to “Disabled“. This will prevent Tarr from appearing in the game.

How to Turn off Feral Slimes

Like with Tarr, players will need to start a new world and toggle the option for Feral Slimes to “Disabled”. This will prevent feral slimes from spawning into the game.

How To Increase Inventory in Slime Rancher 2

Extra Tank Upgrade

To increase inventory, players must upgrade the Extra Tank add ons at the fabricator. There are two additional tanks that can be obtained through the Fabricator.

Inventory Upgrade #1

  • 10 Rock Plorts
  • 10 Silky Sand
  • 1500 Newbucks

  • 40 Rock Plorts
  • 20 Ringtail Plorts
  • 20 Silky Sand
  • 2 Strange Diamond

How to Harvest Resources in Slime Rancher 2

Unlike in the previous game, players will need a Vac upgrade to harvest resources from nodes around the map. Previously, extractors were built and placed to obtain these items.

To get the Resource Harvester upgrade, go to the Fabricator in the basement and navigate to the Upgrades tab. From here, select the Resource Harvester upgrade. This will cost 10 Cotton Plort and 250 Newbucks.

Cotton Plots are harvested from the yellow bunny-like slimes just in Rainbow Fields.

How to Get The Jetpack in Slime Rancher 2

To get the Jetpack in Slime Rancher 2, players will need to unlock it at the Fabricator. The Jetpack requires 5 Phosphor Plorts, 5 Radiant Ore, and 400 Newbucks. It has two upgrade levels.

Jetpack 2 Upgrade

The Jetpack II consumes 20% less energy, but is very expensive to unlock. This will require:

  • 20 Phosphor Plorts
  • 10 Batty Plorts
  • 20 Radiant Ore
  • 10 Wild Honey
  • 1 Jetpack Drive
  • 1500 Newbucks

How to Increase Vacpack Power

Once the Jetcpack is unlocked, players will find themselves struggling to stay aloft due to limited energy. Thankfully, the fix for this is unlocking the Power Core upgrades. Using the Fabricator, players can pay 10 Cotton Plots and 250 Newbucks to get the base upgrade, which increases Jetpack energy to 150.

After this, energy boosts get gradually more expensive, and will require special items that must be located out in the world, like the Power Chip.

Power Core 2 Upgrade

The first upgrade to the Power Core will require a slew of items from multiple maps. These include:

  • 20 Cotton Plorts
  • 10 Batty Plorts
  • 10 Primordy Oil
  • 10 Jellystone
  • 1 Power Chip
  • 1000 Newbucks

How To Increase Health

To increase health in Slime Rancher 2, players must obtain and begin upgrading the Heart Module upgrade from the Fabricator.

The first upgrade is cheap, costing only 10 Pink Plorts and 550 Newbucks. This will boost base health to 150. However, the following upgrades are more expensive.

Heart Module 2 Upgrade

The second upgrade to the Heart Module is much more expensive, and will require access to areas like Ember Valley. Below are the needed items for the next upgrade.

  • 20 Pink Plorts
  • 10 Honey Plorts
  • 10 Deep Brine
  • 10 Jellystone
  • 1 Heart Cell
  • 1000 Newbucks

How To Expand Storage Quantity in Slime Rancher 2

Slime Rancher 2 has two separate types of storage, the number of slots available for carrying items, and the quantity of each item that can be carried. To expand the quantity of each storage slot, players must unlock the Tank Booster upgrade.

The first unlock will cost players 10 Tabby Plots and 450 Newbucks. However, after the initial unlock, which expands inventory quantity to 30 per slot, expansions get much more expensive.

How to Unlock Ember Valley

Ember Valley is the first new area that player’s can unlock easily. To do so, you’ll need to remove the Pink Gordo Slime Rainbow Fields.

Pink Gordo Slimes will eat anything, making them an easy target early in the game. Load up on Carrots and head to the location indicated on the map. Feed the slime until it explodes to uncover a geyser.

Once the Pink Gordo Slime explodes, stand in the space it sat until the geyser goes off and jump onto the platform above. Follow it to the end and interact with the artifact at the end of the platform to unlock the gateway to Ember Valley.

A short cutscene will play, and the gateway will unlock up ahead. The gateway is marked by Beatrix’s icon on the map above.

Ember Valley Map Locations

There are three maps located in Ember Valley, and accessing them early is critical to navigating the fairly unforgiving landscape. Below are each of the areas in order of easiest access.

How To Fast Travel To Ember Island

To fast travel to Ember Island, players must build the Ember Island Portal at the Fabricator. This blueprint is in one of the two treasure pods located behind the Boom Gordo at the end of the Ember Island map.

To build this item, players will need:

  • 20 Boom Plorts
  • 10 Crystal Plorts
  • 10 Radiant Ore
  • 10 Primordy Oil
  • 2000 Newbucks

After crafting this portal, place it in the Conservatory for a quick way to get our to Ember Island. It’s a one-way portal, so player’s have to leg it home if the Conservatory Portal isn’t nearby.

How to Unlock The Starlight Strand

To unlock the Starlight Strand, players will need to remove a Cotton Gordo at the circled location on the map.

Once this Gordo is removed, go through the cave and out onto the peninsula. At the edge is a mechanical station that can be activated.

At the spot circled on the map, a new warp portal will become available. Backtrack to this location and go through the portal to reach the Starlight Strand.
