If you’ve spent much time on the Moonlight Peaks subreddit or watching other people play, chances are, the Helkitten is out of the bag on mermaids. Though you won’t meet them when you first move to town, Moonlight Peaks does indeed include these aquatic supernaturals. But figuring out where to find them isn’t as easy as casting your fishing rod at those mysterious bubbles on the water.
In Moonlight Peaks, the mermaids are hidden away in the Luna Bay region of the map. This is the cloud-shrouded area above the Howling Marshes. While you can see the bridge that takes you there, it’s broken, with no clear path to fix it. Thankfully, we’ve finally met our mermaid friends, and we’re here to tell you how to find them.
Where to Find the Mermaids in Moonlight Peaks

In order to meet the three mermaid residents of Moonlight Peaks, you need to unlock Luna Bay. Doing this is tied to the “A Curious Passage” quest with Ludo. For us, this storyline opened up in Winter of Year One. This quest is tied to the progression of main story quests and not to friendship, as confirmed by the devs. The quest does require you to unlock Hellkitten form first, though.
Meeting the mermaids is pretty simple once the quest begins. They will all be present and waiting for you when you first enter Luna Bay. Once you talk to them for the first time, they’ll be added to your journal, and you will be able to give them daily gifts. Meeting the mermaids also begins the process of unlocking your own mermaid form.
How to Get Past the Broken Bridge & Access Luna Bay in Moonlight Peaks

Reaching Luna Bay won’t be possible until you begin the “A Curious Passage” quest. This quest triggers when Ludo stops by and tells you he saw a mysterious hole in the Howling Marshes. You might have noticed it yourself, as it’s right to the left of the broken bridge. But you won’t be able to go inside until Ludo asks you to investigate. Once he does, meet Ludo near the hole, transform into Hellkitten form, and head inside.
After you do this for the first time, you’ll be able to enter the hole and reach Luna Bay any time. Just transform into Hellkitten form, and you’re good to go. But to truly reunite the mermaids with the rest of Moonlight Peaks, you’ll want to fix the bridge.
How to Fix the Bridge to Luna Bay

Like accessing Luna Bay for the first time, fixing the bridge is linked to a quest with Ludo. First, you’ll need to help the mermaids by removing the tree near Luna’s farm, which is blocking the river. This requires the TK spell.
After you do this, progress your friendship with Ludo and the overall story with the mermaids. This will keep you on the path to receive the Ludo’s Plan quest, which finally repairs the bridge to Luna Bay.
To complete it, simply head to the Howling Marshes with a Margherita Pizza for Ludo. This will spark the cutscene in which Ludo and his father, Ridge, repair the bridge. Then, everyone in Moonlight Peaks will be able to visit Luna Bay.
Still here? Good.
