Field’s of Mistria just dropped its first patch — new features, bug fixes, and all — only 10 days after cozying up to early access.
The patch notes fix a crash when chatting with Dozy during the Spring Festival (he’s very sorry, woof woof) and now you can buy Worn tools at the General Shop, just in case you tossed yours to make room for that “must-have” Undiscovered Artifact. This and other 40-odd changes are listed in the official patch notes from the developer.
“Ah, There’s That Stinky Farmer again — er, I Mean — Cluck Cluck!”
Of the dozens of bugs reported by fans playing Field of Mistria in early access, there is one in particular that has caught some attention. Animals in Mistria randomly converse like people.
For example, Henrietta is either Hayden’s prize-winning chicken or his prize-winning owner, depending on your perspective. From the moment you meet her, you’ll notice she’s got a seriously regal vibe.
You might remember her as the chicken who thought the Spring Festival was less about flowers and more a grand celebration of her awesomeness. Or maybe you see her as the bow-wearing chicken who’s tougher to please than the human villagers.
For me, though, Henrietta turned into a major Fields of Mistria mystery on Spring 17.
You see, I was grumbling about getting second place at the Spring Festival in my first year. While mindlessly making my rounds and checking NPCs’ festival chatter, I suddenly caught a line from Henrietta.
And I don’t mean her usual Cluck Cluck indifference.
I mean an actual line of dialogue.

As it turns out, I’m not the only one who saw this dialogue, as pointed out by the Reddit and Tumblr community.
Naturally, few of us saw this as a Fields of Mistria bug. Whether out of denial or just for fun, we chose to believe Henrietta could speak but only reserved it for moments when she deemed us worthy — because, obviously, we’re the inferior species in her eyes.
Or maybe, just maybe, Juniper did some hocus pocus and turned her into a talking chicken.
Honestly, I would not have batted an eye if, in the later half of the game, we got a quest where Juniper regrets turning her oldest frenemy into a chicken and needs our help to gather rare ingredients for a Reverse Chicken Transformation Potion.
Have I spent too much time thinking about this?
Well, the devs definitely seem to think so.
Turns out Henrietta is just a regular chicken; it’s not a feature or a hidden plot — just a bug. “Ah, another day in Mistria” is a generic line for townies. You’ll hear Balor say it pretty often.
Fields of Mistria’s patch fixes this, making sure Henrietta sticks to clucking and side-eying, while Dowzy—who had the same issue—-sticks to woofing.
With this new patch, Fields of Mistria continues rowing the early access waters. But as we noted in our review, it barely feels like early access at all.
