A crafty Pokémon Legends: Z-A player recently uncovered a handy trick while trying to capture the legendary Zygarde. Pokémon Legends: Z-A has been out for over a month now, and fans have naturally scoured every corner of Lumiose City in search of rare Pokémon and secret tips to catch them.
As is the case with most Pokémon games, players use a variety of Poké Balls to capture creatures in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This is even true during the final confrontation with Zygarde, who eventually allows the player to capture it after they prove themselves worthy of being its trainer.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Player Discovers Neat Poké Ball Trick
As it turns out, the player can fail at catching Zygarde in its mech-like Complete Forme, but there is a way to ensure that the capture goes as planned after all. Twitter user and Pokémon Legends: Z-A player Esse posted a video clip of their character throwing their Poké Balls at the ground near Zygarde. While this would usually destroy the ball, Esse instead gets a new Poké Ball back for each one they use.
While this may seem like a neat way to get extra money by selling these respawned Poke Balls, Esse says that the cheat only grants the player one new ball to avoid being softlocked during a critical point in the game, and that there is a limit of 999. It is also worth pointing out that the replacement is always a regular Poké Ball, regardless of what type the player throws.
Some Pokémon Legends: Z-A fans who have taken note of Esse’s cheat have devised fun theories about how the player gets their ball back. One suggested that Zygarde is using one of its snake-like tendrils to catch the ball and throw it back in a playful game of catch, while others believe that the Ball Guy from Pokémon Sword and Shield is secretly retrieving them from somewhere off-screen.
Overall, this Poké Ball trick is less of a cheat to get an unlimited supply of items and more of a means to ensure that the story progresses as it should, and it should be pointed out that the player would have to deliberately go out of their way to run out of balls at that particular point. Regardless, Pokémon Legends: Z-A fans are passing the time waiting for the upcoming Mega Dimensions DLC by finding hidden Easter Eggs and other secrets in the base game.
