Developer Ludogram and Twin Sails Interactive have revealed a brand-new survival management game that’s going to push you and the genre to its limits.
Ascenders: Beyond The Peak is a gorgeous title that puts you in control of a mountaineering crew scaling a horrific mountain in a quest for untold treasures. Every choice has consequences, but big sacrifices might be necessary for the success of the climb.
It’s The Climb
The game will enter Steam Early Access in Q3 2026, and should come to consoles once it hits 1.0 launch. You can wishlist it now and look forward to the trials ahead.
So, what exactly do you do moment-to-moment in Ascenders: Beyond The Peak? First, you must pick your team from a selection of classes, each of which has its merits on the mountain. The Highlander, for example, can shove foes off of the mountain’s face, while the Sapper uses explosives to reshape the field, and the Scout uses a grappling hook to reposition and open up new opportunities.
You’ll take your team out on short runs that make up sections of the climb. Endurance is drained as you climb by progress, as well as obstacles and enemies you need to battle against. Sometimes, though, you’ve got to cut your losses.

You’re not always going to make it to the top of the mountain with your entire crew intact. There’s going to come a point when it makes sense to cut someone loose so the rest of the team can escape and move upward.
However, if you leave someone behind or let them fall, that’s going to affect who wants to join your crew for future climbs. You won’t get the best of the best if you’re known for dropping climbers, but you will if you make every effort and succeed in bringing the entire crew to each summit you try for.
So, you’ve got two main stressors on your performance. First is the actual climbing, battling monsters, the elements, fatigue, hunger, and thirst. Second is building a reputation strong enough to get the best climbers in the business begging for you to throw them at an expedition to the highest and most horrific peak in the world.
I’m already strung out just thinking about how all of this is going to impact my choices when one member of my crew is dangling over the abyss, and I’ve got enemies to my sides and falling rocks above me.
I hope you’re looking forward to Ascenders: Beyond The Peak as much as I am. If you want to keep up to date with the game, when we report more on it, follow us on all of our socials and check out our free Patreon membership to get alerts right to your emails.
