The gifting season is upon us, and it’s both a wonderful and stressful time to pick out the perfect thing for the special people in your life. If you’ve got someone who spends more time in the kitchen than anywhere else, a cookbook makes an excellent gift. And as someone with an ever-growing cookbook collection, I know my way around a good collection of recipes. That means I feel pretty confident dishing out some recommendations for solid cookbooks to give to a friend (or yourself) this holiday season.
During Black Friday week at Amazon, several of my absolute favorite cookbooks and a few highly recommended ones are on sale. That means this is a great time to start your gift shopping or expand your personal cookbook library. Here are my top picks for the best Black Friday cookbook deals on Amazon this year.
The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook by ConcernedApe & Ryan Novak

Black Friday Price: $15.62 (normally $28) on Amazon
As a site that goes in hard for gaming, we at Bonus Action can hardly ignore the delight that is The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook. This beautiful, full-color cookbook features recipes from the game, rendered into real-life versions just for you. And you don’t even have to move to Grandpa’s farm to make them.
During Black Friday, The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook is 44% off. That brings the price of this beautiful cookbook and collector’s item down to just about $15, which is quite the bargain if you ask me.
Dessert Person by Claire Saffitz

Black Friday Price: $16.36 (normally $37.50) on Amazon
Claire Saffitz is a well-known food personality thanks to her work with Bon Appétit. But I came to her first through this wonderful cookbook, which a friend gifted me one year around the holidays. It’s full of unique baking recipes that are clear and easy to follow, with everything from simple elevated chocolate chip cookies to complex multilayer cakes. It’s a must-have cookbook for anyone who enjoys baking or wants to enjoy baking.
Dessert Person is 56% off on Amazon for Black Friday, making it just over $16. Given that this massive tome of baking goodness normally retails for nearly $40, it’s a great deal.
Plant You by Carleigh Bodrug

Black Friday Price: $13.34 (normally $30) on Amazon
Whether you’re actually vegan or just want to get more plant-based meals into your diet, Plant You is an excellent addition to your cookbook collection. This book is full of recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snack time, all centered on plant-based goodness. Vegan and vegetarian dishes can be pretty hit or miss online, so having a go-to cookbook with recipes to help you get your veggies in is the gift that keeps on giving.
Plant You and its more recent follow-up, Scrappy Cooking, are both on sale for Amazon’s Black Friday week. This brings the hardcover recipe books down by 56%, making it a perfect time to make Meatless Mondays a whole lot easier.
Peaceful Kitchen by Catherine Perez

Black Friday Price: $13.51 (normally $35) on Amazon
Yes, I put two plant-based cookbooks on the list. Even though my husband and I aren’t vegan, he doesn’t eat cheese, and we only occasionally eat chicken and fish. So, our cookbook shelf is packed with vegetarian and vegan cookbooks. And while I love every book in our collection, Peaceful Kitchen is the one my husband and I reach for the most. Every recipe in here is a winner, packed with flavor, protein, and fibre, and they’re not fussy or difficult to make, either. If I could add one cookbook to everyone’s shelves by magic, I’d pick this one.
Peaceful Kitchen is one of the biggest discounts on cookbooks this Black Friday. You can get the hardcover cookbook for 61% off, which is frankly a steal. Given that my husband and I have used ours so much, it’s falling apart, I’m a little tempted to grab a second copy for that price!
Baking Across America: A Vintage Recipe Road Trip by B. Dylan Hollis

Black Friday Price: $16.81 (Normally $37.99) on Amazon
I confess I’ve yet to pull the trigger on buying either of B. Dylan Hollis’ cookbooks. I adore his YouTube content and genuinely go ogle both Baking Across America and Baking Yesteryear every time I see them at the bookstore. This second cookbook from the YouTube creator with a penchant for vintage recipes takes readers on a foodie tour of American history, looking at local favorites from the past for each of the 50 states. If you’re going to get a dessert cookbook for someone who doesn’t actually like to bake, this is the one. It’s not just a cookbook, it’s a journey.
Baking Across America is 56% off for Black Friday, and that just might be the deal that gets this cookbook on my shelf. Hollis’ prior book, Baking Yesteryear, isn’t listed as a Black Friday deal but looks to be discounted 48% off at the moment, as well.
