Reese Witherspoon has been selecting a monthly featured read for Reese’s Book Club since 2017, and we’re quickly approaching the 100th Reese’s Book Club Selection. Her picks are wildly popular, with some comparing the success of her curated book list to that of Oprah’s Book Club.
Over the years, many books selected for the club have been optioned for film or TV – mostly for Reese’s production company, Hello Sunshine. Some speculate the book club is something of a testing ground for which titles are popular enough to be adapted. Curious just how many Reese’s Book Club picks have been made into movies or TV series? We’ve got the full list.

Reese’s Book Club Picks With Movie Adaptations

Thus far, most Hello Sunshine titles have become TV series through the streaming service Hulu. However, one book was such a smash hit that apparently only the big screen would do.
The wildly popular and somewhat controversial September 2018 Reese’s Book Club pick Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens became a feature film, released in 2022.
Reese’s Book Club Picks with TV Adaptations

By and large, most Reese’s Book Club picks that are optioned by Hello Sunshine become TV series. Most are available on Hulu, with the exception of Daisy Jones and the Six which is available via Amazon Prime.
Here are all the titles that have made their way to the streaming service thus far:
| Book Title | Author | Genre | Month Picked for Reese’s Book Club | Date of TV Series Release |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Daisy Jones and the Six | Taylor Jenkins Reid | Historical Fiction | March 2019 | March 2023 |
| From Scratch | Tembi Locke | Memoir | May 2019 | October 2022 |
| The Last Thing He Told Me | Laura Dave | Thriller | May 2021 | April 2023 |
| Little Fires Everywhere | Celeste Ng | Contemporary Fiction | September 2017 | March 2020 |
| Tiny Beautiful Things | Cheryl Strayed | Essay Collection | November 2022 | April 2023 |
Most of these adaptations are mini-series, single seasons with around eight episodes. However, according to IMBD there will be a second season of the adaptation for The Last Thing He Told Me starring Jennifer Gardner.
Reese’s Book Club Picks With Adaptations in the Works
Reese’s Book Club picks don’t show any signs of slowing down on the adaptation front, with a few more books that have movies or TV adaptations in the works. Here are the ones we know about so far.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, a pick from June 2017, is set to be the second full-length film based on a Reese’s Book Club pick. While the director has been announced, we don’t know much more about the project just yet.
September 2023 pick Mother Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simon has also been optioned, though we don’t yet know what type of adaptation we’ll see for this more recent Reese’s Book Club pick.
Another Reese’s Book Club Pick, Seven Days in June by Tia Williams, also has a TV adaptation for Amazon Prime on the way, although it does not appear that Hello Sunshine is attached to the project at this time. This makes it a rarity amongst adaptations of Reese’s picks, as she seems to snatch up the rights to most of them.
Witherspoon has been attached to a number of bookish adaptations in the past in addition to those listed above, including HBO’s Big Little Lies, but those listed above are the only ones that have been both Reese’s Book Club picks and book-to-screen adaptations… for now.
