When it comes to Luxury-class gaming accessories, making the investment can be a daunting process. This is especially true of options like gaming chairs, which can be very expensive for what they might offer. The Mavix M9 gaming chair doesn’t come cheap, but it offers a wide range of customization options alongside a shockingly comfortable build.
The Mavix team prides itself on being an elite, high-quality accessory brand focused on combining gamer needs with ergonomic builds. The gaming chair line strays from the classic look seen in most Razer and Secret Lab builds. The Mavix M9 looks a lot like an oversized office chair, but this is where the similarities end.
We will be comparing the Mavix M9 against the Razer Enki X.

Assembly & Adjustments

When investing over a thousand dollars into a chair, gamers will expect top-level quality. The first thing we noted when unboxing the M9 is how hefty every item feels. The core of the base is made out of a solid metal, and the levers and adjusters feel durable.
The M9’s seat and shoulder rest feel fantastic. The Brisa fabric is smooth and soft, and I couldn’t stop touching it when it came out of the box. Additionally, the seat is bigger than I expected. Bigger than the Razer Enki X by two inches.
However, the assembly of the M9 is where several problems were noted with the chair. The first was the grease smear on the white fabric when removed from the plastic cover, as seen above in photos from the unboxing.
Additionally, the armrest attachments were scratched, and the fabric under the seat was peeking out from the base on one side. For a chair at this price bracket, unboxing should be pristine, and I was surprised to see so many small defects on the chair’s body.
In addition to the noted quality issues, the chair does not come with paper installation instructions. Instead, gamers must go to the Mavix website and locate a YouTube tutorial of the chair model. While videos can be an excellent resource, they are best paired with paper assembly guides to ensure that the builder doesn’t miss any steps. Especially in chairs with extensive customization options.
We did struggle to assemble the chair, and then had to take some extra time rewatching the videos to understand how all the adjustable parts of the chair functioned.
However, once built, the M9 is a stunning piece of furniture. The white fabric is bright and vibrant, and after weeks of use, it has picked up no additional dirt. It feels durable and comfortable. This is a huge step up from the Razer Enki X, which offers faux leather that, while durable, isn’t particularly comfortable and dirties easily.
Adjustments & Customization

The M9 offers a slew of customization options that can be selected during purchase and adjusted once built. We selected the royal purple wheels, Elemax heating and cooling massager, and adjustable arm rests. This does bring the cost of the chair up to $1292 without discounts or sales.
The wheels on this chair are incredible. Unlike the clunking, clomping rollers on the Razer Enki X, the M9 FS wheels glide across hard surfaces like butter. So much so that I accidentally sat with too much force and slid right into the bookshelf by my desk. We didn’t have the chance to try these on carpet, but they work very well on hardwood without scratching or leaving marks.
The 360 rotational armrests have been a game-changer for me while playing or working. These armrests can be extended and shifted to fit any arm length and desire angle, and then locked into place to ensure they don’t wiggle or shift.
The Elemax has been a mixed experience for me. I can’t get enough of the heater built into the seat. It applies heat directly to the lower back, as it is slotted into the lumbar support of the chair. The “massage” is a low vibration with two intensity settings and two modes. It’s not really a massage, but it is nice to turn on while sitting for a long period of time. That said, the Elemax works best when plugged into the wall. Unplugged, it loses battery rapidly and doesn’t seem to heat as well or vibrate for as long. This means having a cable connected to the chair at all times when it is in use.
It also doesn’t fit into the back of the chair in the way that it is shown on the website. The element seems to be shoved in and has straps that get in the way of the buttons. It also lacks remote or timer settings, so users will regularly have to reach behind them to turn it on. What I would recommend in this situation is skipping the Elemax and opting for a massager or heated seat cover, as it doesn’t quite feel like it is worth the cost of the upgrade.
The M9 also comes with a slew of built-in adjustment options that are included in the base chair. The recline of the M9 is fantastic. It lies back smoothly and locks into place. It can feel like the chair wants to tip over, and those using the seat in recline will want to lock their wheels so they don’t roll away while trying to sit back up.
Additionally, the headrest and back piece can be adjusted for height by gently lifting on the seat. This took a bit of finagling, but I was able to achieve a very nice fit of the lumbar support to my lower back.
Comfort and Long-Term Use
The Mavix M9 is a very comfortable chair. It’s soft, and the gel seat is fantastic. I do wish I weren’t able to see the gel seating squares under the fabric. Some sort of additional padding to cover that would have made the seat look cleaner. Despite this, it is very nice to sit in.
After three weeks in the chair, swapping between the Enki X and the M9 for testing, the M9 is a more plush, generally comfortable option. The Enki X is very firm and can sometimes be uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time.
Final Score – 7.5/10
The Mavix M9 gaming chair is a beautiful, comfortable piece of furniture that offers a slew of customizations. The seat is soft, and the gel cushion is wonderful to use for long-term gaming sessions. Those looking for the ability to customize every single angle and setting of a chair will find everything they need in the M9.
However, there are some quality issues and overall hurdles to the M9 that make it hard to justify at the price bracket it’s currently set at. For such an expensive seating option, the small details matter, and the dirt, scratches, and misaligned fabrics really stand out at this price range. The visible gel pad on the seat, and issues with the Elemax if it is selected as an extra, also stand out as frustrating negatives for anyone dropping such an amount.
The Mavix M9 is a great option for gamers who have the ability to purchase a luxury-level chair. It is specifically good for anyone who needs to adjust for height or physical differences. The M9 is versatile in a way that many chairs don’t achieve. Despite the issues noted, it’s an excellent seating option, and one that gamers will enjoy using.
