New footage of Star Wars: Galactic Racer was just shown off during this week’s PlayStation State of Play, highlighting the upcoming game’s fast-paced action and impressive graphics. Lucasfilm Games and new developer Fuse Games first unveiled Star Wars: Galactic Racer during The Game Awards 2025 back in December, the same night that KOTOR director Casey Hudson announced Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic.
Just as that title might draw up nostalgic feelings for the original Knights of the Old Republic games, Star Wars: Galactic Racer will probably bring to mind the classic Star Wars Episode I: Racer from the days of The Phantom Menace. The first trailer for Galactic Racer offered up plenty of thrills as vehicles from across the Star Wars franchise blasted across recognizable locations like Jakku.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer Blasts Into Action At PlayStation State Of Play
This week’s PlayStation State of Play gave excited fans another pulse-pounding look at Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and was largely centered around the new playable protagonist Shade. This masked racer is looking to enter the Galactic League, a racing competition set up after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Winning will be easier said than done, as Shade quickly gets on the bad side of some rival racers.
Shade also enters an exhibition race, and it is here that we see Star Wars: Galactic Racer in action. The game truly looks like a modern-gen successor to Episode I: Racer, with stunning graphics that bring a sense of speed and carnage to the onscreen races and brutal crashes. We also get a glimpse of some characters from that game, namely the infamous Sebulba and the unlucky Ben Quadinaros.
So far, there is no clear release date for Star Wars: Galactic Racer aside from a vague 2026 launch window, but I’m already excited for some more high-octane Star Wars racing action. Interested gamers can already wishlist it across various platforms ahead of the opening ceremony.
