No doubt many players felt a bit sad when their Tavern Talk playthrough ended, wishing the story could go on. And thanks to the story DLC Tempest Tantrum, players can dive into a brand new adventure.
The Tempest Tantrum DLC adds a handful of new quests, a story-driven side-quest, if you will. This add-on to the base game gives players a few more hours of visual novel content, including a new drink to make, a new character, and a few new quests to serve up to adventurers. If you’re looking for tips on how your choices will impact the overall adventure this time around, our Tempest Tantrum walkthrough is here to help.

How Long is the Tempest Tantrum DLC?

According to the developers, the DLC adds around 3-4 hours of new story. My first playthrough was around the 2-3 hour mark, but I’m a fast reader.
Because your choices matter, the story will be dramatically different depending on which drinks you serve your adventurers. So, to really see all the possibilities, a few playthroughs will be needed. This adds extra gameplay to the DLC.
Do You Need to Play the Base Game to Play Tempest Tantrum?
The DLC has a separate launch menu, so you could technically buy both the base game and DLC and then play Tempest Tantrum first.
However, there are spoilers for the main storyline in the dialogue of the DLC. So, you really should finish the base game before launching into the events of Tempest Tantrum, which take place after the main game.

If you need a refresher on making drinks, Una will offer a tutorial at the start. For any other reminders of basic gameplay mechanics, check out our base game guide.
As in Tavern Talk, your intrepid adventurers will request a drink to help them accomplish their quests. You’ll have two different options, and the drink you choose to serve will impact the rest of the story. If you want to know the implications before you pick, we’ve got you covered.
Night at the Library

This is the first quest you’ll create, and the drink you serve here doesn’t just alter the success of your adventurers – it completely changes the quest path that comes next! So choose wisely, because how the story unfolds is in your hands.
No matter which drink you pick, you’ll need to use your new infusion from Baya to help out with the breathing underwater situation. The rest is up to you!
Serve Intelligence + Strength Boost
If you craft up something like a Silent Owl for your adventurers, they will have their wits about them. They’ll be able to come up with some clever solutions for both the broken mechanism and the “haunted books,” making this the best possible outcome in our opinion.
Choosing this drink will lead you to the One Zoetrope to Rule Them All second quest and subsequent storyline.

Serve Speed + Defense Boost
If you opt to serve a boost in speed and defense, such as the brand-new Ocean Fizz, your heroes will work quickly. However, they’ll also get lost along the way, still arriving after hours. They will opt for stealth to enter the library, and while they’ll still find the mechanism they’re looking for, they won’t solve the issue of the haunted books quite as happily. This is a decent success outcome in our books.
Serving this drink will lead you to the A Tempest is Announced second quest and related storyline.
One Zoetrope to Rule Them All

This will be your second quest if you choose the Intelligence + Strength drink during the first quest. If you chose the other option, skip down to A Tempest is Announced, as that will be your second quest.
If your friends were able to work out what the mechanism is, they’ll opt to try and repair the zoetrope so the tempest spirit can live there once more. You’ll need to provide a boost to help them get it done.
There’s no real wrong answer for this choice, and both will result in a successful mission, though with slightly different end results.
Serve Dexterity + Intelligence, with Divine Blessings
If you offer your adventurers a drink such as the Hot Chocolate, which offers a Dexterity and Intelligence boost, they’ll be able to swiftly and smartly solve their zoetrope issues. The team will work out where to go for help and repair the mechanism, finding a new home for the Tempest.

Serve Strength + Charisma, with Fire Resistance
Armed with Charisma and Strength, plus the ability to resist fire damage, from a drink such as the Sailor’s Courage, your adventurers will find success. However, without any citrin, they’re not able to repair the zoetrope. Instead, they must calm an angry Tempest after its home is well and truly destroyed, ultimately finding it a new sense of purpose outside the world of enclosed spaces.
A Tempest is Announced

If you serve up Speed + Defense for quest one, you’ll wind up here for the second quest of Tempest Tantrum. Since your friends weren’t able to figure out what their broken mechanism does, they decide to track down the tempest instead – with the help of the charming Voy, of course. It’s up to you to aid them on their quest.
Serve Defense + Strength, with Fire Resistance
Provide your adventurers with defense and strength via a drink like Steel Tonic, and they will fiercely battle their way to the Tempest. Unfortunately, they break the mechanism along the way and are only able to briefly trap it. Without a real solution, Oleander will call upon Leviathan to take back his creation, which he will… eventually.
This is a decent success outcome that results in overall success but is probably the least happy ending for the Tempest itself.

Serve Charisma + Dexterity, with Inspiration
Your heroes will be inspired by a drink such as the Thousand Winds, which gives a boost to Charisma and Dexterity. This drink suits the charming bard who leads the quest, and they’ll be able to charm some local researchers into helping them identify their mysterious mechanism. They’ll need that Charisma boost to convince the Tempest to take to a newly forged home, but ultimately, they succeed and it sets off on a new life of adventure.
This is a best success outcome for this questline in our opinion, since the adventurers achieve their aim and the Tempest winds up happy as well.
Overall, no matter which path you choose, it seems that the Tavern Talk Tempest Tantrum DLC will lead to a relatively happy result. However, the story of how that get there and what comes next for our characters differs depending on your choices. If you want to see them all, you’ll need a few playthroughs to explore the options.
