When the original Slime Rancher launched in early access early in 2016, it offered cozy gamers a beautifully colored world and addictive gameplay. The unique Sci-fi setting is magical, whimsical, and delicately written. With hundreds of hours in the first game, I was delighted to hear about the early access release of Slime Rancher 2. Now, after nearly three years of hard work, Monomi Park has finally announced the 1.0 launch of the second installation.
Slime Rancher 2 sees the continuation of Beatrix LeBeau’s story as she continues her journey as a space-adventuring slime farmer. In the first game, players learned to fear the great Slime Sea’s treacherous depths, but the second game focuses on LeBeau’s journey across it to Rainbow Island.
Here, new slimes await, as well as a slew of new slime technology and lore. Now, new information about the 1.0 release reveals that the beautiful Rainbow Island is only the beginning. The Far Far Range is under attack, and only Beatrix can stop disaster from striking.
Slime Rancher 2 Release Date
According to the press release provided to Bonus Action by Monomi Park, Slime Rancher 2 will release on September 23, 2025, for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox X|S.
In a new trailer uploaded to the Monomi Park official YouTube account, players have gotten their first look at the 1.0 release of Slime Rancher 2. This includes early glimpses of new puzzles, and a breakdown narration from Yusuke Naora, known for the incredible art seen in titles like Final Fantasy VII.
Naora had worked with Monomi Park and iam8bit to create a special piece of illustrative artwork for the limited physical edition of Slime Rancher 2 that was announced alongside the 1.0 release date.
Physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox X|S will release in limited quantities on January 14, 2026, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the series. The editions will include the special artwork, a region-free disc, and pre-orders for the Exclusive Edition will also receive a digital download of the game’s soundtrack.
Pre-orders will cost $34.99, with the Exclusive Edition only available until August 26, 2025. Pre-orders can be placed now on the iam8bit website.
