The Huanuo DS7 Monitor Mount Assembly Isn’t Arduous
When you first recieve the DS7 and unbox it, the number of pieces you will have in front of you can seem daunting. I’d never built a monitor mount from the ground up before this, and was nervous about assembling the entire unit incorrectly. However, the DS7 comes with a set of simple but clean directions, making installation a breeze.
You will want to make sure you follow every step exactly, and that you pull your desk away from the wall when mounting it on the desk so you can correctly set the monitors in place, but assembly only took about forty-five minutes total.
The arms of the mount are hefty and have incredible range. They can be extended to stand tall above your head, or pulled down for a more traditional view. My favorite part of the assembly process was discovering and installing the USB ports on the base of the unit. These are great for easy charging or cable management.
I will say, the larger the monitors you are installing, the trickier it will be to get them on the mounts. The kit comes with everything you need to mount standard or curved monitors, but larger, heavier monitors can be a bit difficult to get screwed into the back plates. My Samsung Nvidia GSync monitors are standard 32″ LCD screens, and they were just heavy enough that I needed a spare set of hands while getting them adjusted and fastened down.
After this, however, it was simply a matter of getting the screens set to the height I prefer for working, and then arranging the cables off the back. I was sad to find that there was very little built-in cable management for monitor cables. I would have loved some silicon runners down the arms to help with the ropy look of Display Port connections hanging down from the back of my monitors. However, because of the arm mobility, this would be a tricky thing to install without cables becoming pinched or tangled when adjusting the screens. It is something to keep in mind when setting up, however.
Rotate, Adjust, Raise, Repeat
If you are someone who loves the ability to adjust and change your monitors around at any time, the Huanuo DS7 is for you. This mount allows you to turn your Monitors in any direction, and the attachments move like butter, swiveling and shifting without any resistance.
You can choose to tighten down the bolts on the arms to keep them down or release them so that they can sit up high. This is nice if you like to tip your monitor on its side for an elongated view. I love this feature for when I am switching back and forth from writing to drawing. I like to spin one monitor for a better reference screen while I draw on the other. It’s clean, easy, and doesn’t require any extra work. Just twist and go.
Additionally, because the clamp is set back on the edge of the desk, the screens can be pulled forward or tucked back against the edge of the desk, creating a customizable use of space that is perfect for gamers, writers, those working from home, or anyone who enjoys a little bit of customization in their digital workspace.
Sweet Space For A Clean Workspace
My favorite Huanuo DS7 monitor arm is how much space it allows me to reclaim on my desk. My workspace was overwhelmed with my previous monitor stands. They took up more than half of the desk, crowding my keyboard forward and pushing my microphone off to the corner of the desk.
Everything always felt cluttered, unorganized, and frustratingly pinched. Because I typically have notebooks, gaming consoles, and any other variety of items on my desk for work, space is critical, and I needed much more of it than I could seem to manifest.
After installing the DS7 mount, my workspace changed immediately. With my monitors pushed back and suspended, I was able to reclaim the vast majority of my workspace. Cable management has been much less frustrating, as I was able to properly tether and bundle everything as it comes off the back of the monitors and into the PC.
Everything feels much less stressful. I can set my drawing tablet up without it being in my lap, and I have room for the decorations and little bobbles I used to keep on my desk when I had much smaller monitors. The DS7 has given me the gift of space alongside its lovely, sleek workflow utility, and I’ve loved every second.
